Well I live in a Mustang, Camaro, and Firebird dominated area (mostly Mustnag though). I wanted something different (cause I'm that type of guy), and the Monte was it. There arne't many Monte's around here... the 5th gens are a dime a dozen here. There are a couple of 7th generations, but more 6th's than any really (and only about 4 of them, including mine). It's got a ton of room, a huge trunk, and a big back seat (teh Mustang guys like to get me to drive them places ). Plus, everyone comments how it has a lot of power for a V6, and how the car overall just "Feels good"

 

Lots of reasons, most mentioned by the others:

Nice sized cars - not little sh**boxes.
Good power in the 99, great power in the 06.
Not too many of them on the roads.
Never been stranded in my Monte's (knock on wood).
Runs well in rain and snow. (Don't know about the 06 in snow)
BIG trunk.
Room for passengers.
For the original price, very low cost cars to own and maintain.
They look awesome, especially when all detailed up.
Lots of relatively easy and fairly inexpensive mods you can do yourself.
Insurance is very reasonable, compared to Mustangs, etc.
It's a Chevy......

 

For years i have been a Camaro/firebird bird fan owning a few of each over the years of driving. I have been driving a 93 chevy silverado since 2000. I got to a point where i could afford a newer car so i set out looking for a 02-03 Camaro/Firebird (possible Mustang) and then i found an 04 Intimidator I have heard alot about the Bonneivile SSE and the GTPs so I was intrigued. I drove the Monte and fell in love. its funny a few of my friends turned there nose up at it until they take a ride. she has earned thier respect. Although my wife thinks its redneck cuz of the nascar connection to it...lol

 

I do like the way the front of my monte looks, it just pushes right through the wind. I know I have a 3100 but I find myself passing everyone. The engine has more power then many people think

 

1- Rare car to see
2- Awesome Styling, Doesn't look like any other car, and no parts look like another GM car
3- 3800
4- My first car
5- Comforable and has enough power to make me happy
6- Did I mention I loveeeee the looks?

 

Defianately not too many 2nd gens running around, and not many building them. It can get looks, but most of them don't pay attention long because of its ratty looks, and thats the way I like it. Its just a fun car to drive and i'll just keep working on it for as long as I can. Plus its probably the most reliable vehicle i own.. just doesn't go the farthest in gas.

 

1.) Styling
2.) Good Gas mileage for a sports car
3.) POWER!!!! (I can get out of my own way!)
4.) Affordable, both in buy price and insurance wise
5.) Not too common
6.) Smooth ride
7.) Have space to haul stuff and people
8.) I could be here for an hour listing stuff
9.) Easy to maintain

What I love about my Monte is the way it looks and the way it drives!
