My local area is hard to master (especially for those not familiar with the area). In most cases it depends what side of the street you're on. One side is township (45), the other city (35). For a bit by my house both sides are township, then as you go down a hill to my house it drops to 35 on that side, then a mile further it's all township and back to 45 again both ways.

Going to the next city over the speed limit will go from 35 to 45 to 50 to 45 to 35 to 25 to 40.

Our freeways are the same way - my county is 65 but Cuyahoga county drops to 60. For the most part I'll do 5-8 over in the city (my local city doesn't have a fine for less than 10 over - no points, no fine so they don't waste their time, unless they just want to annoy you, really). Highway my neighbor (a state trooper) said he won't touch anyone until they're at least 15 over, unless they're a younger driver, to teach them a lesson.

For the most part there's very few places the further north you get for cops to sit, but once you hit Linndale LOOK OUT!!!

Ohio is currently trying to pass a law that cities with populations less than 20,000 can't set speed traps on the highway - which for me means the only cities around me that could really set a trap would be major cities like Cleveland. Which leaves only Sheriffs and Troopers to do speed enforcement.

I have been pulled over 3 times once I was doing 25 over. I have never gotten a ticket or been in a speed related accident. A tree falling on me while driving was not due to me speeding i was going 10 under If I was speeding it would have fallen after I passed. I think 10 over is fine as long as you have the awareness and skill to do so. If your a tunnel vision driver, or do stupid things like texting or eating while driving then no dont be on the road at same time as me please.

I generally drive around 5 over......

With the exception of when im towing my 5th wheel....
Then im always at the speed limit or a little under...

When i was 16 i learned my lesson....
I accumulated 47 points in less than a year....
None were for Drag raceing or running lights or stop signs..
No wreckless or careless driveing either!

Just misc minor speeding infractions....
So 5 over is my max....

Worry about the people on their cell phone more than speeders. They're the ones to watch out for since half the time they aren't paying attention. A good amount of people I pass on the highway are doing something with their phone. Put it away and concentrate on driving.

If I'm Zoned out so to speak, still paying attention I tend to go bang on the speed limit if I'm paying attention and In a hurry I go about 10 Km/h over which I guess would be about 5 mph.
I also don't mind people who speed because then they will get caught not me.

I wonder if any of the guys on this thread, talking about how they always obey the speed limit have also commented on this thread:

One where we brag about hitting the highest speed possible in our cars.

I hated living back in Illinois, one could barely go over the limit at all. You need to come to Utah. It's like a race track out here. I would speculate and say 75% of us are always going 15 to 30 mph over the limit on any given day. Way better than those up tight states who jack you for going a measely 10 over. I'm usually 15 to 20 over, no tickets in over 5 years. I can be in my work truck or Monte, still run over the limit. They treat us like adults out here or we don't have that many cops........
