While I Was Out Today...
We happened to drive past a used car lot. And this was setting there....
A 2004 Monte. I thought these were like ultra rare? And why did they only do this paint scheme to the LS?
Seems it sold new in Dayton and a local guy had it will yesterday when he traded it in.
This car has just over 1,800 miles on it.
The salesman made a point to show me this inside the trunk. Is it for real????
Powered by the 3400 engine.
Oh. And the salesman said if we wanted, he'd take the Pace car off our hands and we could have this car.
Otherwise they want $12,000 for the car.

Wayne. I searched hi and low on the net and i found your car in OH.
http://www.davescustomdetailing.com/id21.html
I went at least 35 pages on Google and that was the only one i found. I was reading the site and he also takes about vinyl graphics. It seams to me that he did that on his own. Anyone can write that on the rear deck. Besides, dont eh signature series also have the signed dash cluster?
Now, if that REALLY is a Waltrip Monte, then they should be able to show you the carfax on it and tell you what # it is in the series.
I really feel sorry for anyone they con into buying this car.
I call BS on this one.

I know we had a couple members on here who owned Montes just like this one I found.
Whether or not they're really some type of Nascar edition........... beats me????
But like the salesman I too find it strange they did this to the LS and NOT the SS Montes? A 3400 V6 isn't exactly teaming with horsepower.
(I'm not knocking those who own one so please no negative comments)
No worries. The sales guy was way too fast with his comment he'd take the Pace car in trade for this '04 LS he has. It never even occured to me to offer up the Pace car. He brought it up. I think I like the Pace car a whole lot better.
The sales guy told me they had a 2005 Jr. Monte on their lot up till this past june. It had 38,000 miles on it. I think he said they wanted $13,900 for the car. Not one single person ever opened the door on the Dale Jr. car. He said it never left the lot. So they took it to auction.

The car you were thinking of belongs to DEI Monte SS 04.
He said his car was one of two customized Montes, customized by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in NC. They came with a certificate of authenticity.
See the pic attached.
I'm calling shenanigans on that car you found. Something don't seem right with the odometer reading. I think that may be the trip odometer in that pic. And anyone can write crap with a white marker. And why would Waltrip customize a base model, and keep the base model engine? And apparantly Waltrip is a big fan of the Razzi Body Kit.
Sounds like a good scam if you can sell it.
Step 1. Get a stock base model Monte Carlo.
Step 2. Install a Razzi Body Kit.
Step 3. Slap a bunch of Chevrolet and Monte Carlo decals all over the car.
Step 4. Apply some "cool" stripes.
Step 5. Get a white marker and write something authentic looking, including the name of a racecar driver.
Step 6. Claim it's a "rare" edition, and sell for tons of cash.
