Besides the amount of time it took, I haven't had a problem putting 2 of them on.

You aren't the first person I heard break the string, I wonder if the string got cheaper this past year.

I took my time, and pulled as hard as I could on EVERY single stitch.

Well, unlike the sad note blues songs always end on it appears that this blues saga will end on a positive note. I contacted Wheelskins asking if I could get a new lace and if they had any tips on how to get the cover to stretch a bit. After a couple of email exchanges with them (including providing my steering wheel measurements) I got an email yesterday saying they are sending me a new steering wheel cover! My experience with their customer service has been nothing but top notch. It's refreshing to see there is still a company out there that cares about their customers. So anyways, I'm hoping to have the new steering wheel cover in time to install it this coming weekend.

Do you have to return the other one?

Seems like you can make a few bucks if a member feels like trying with the old lol

They didn't request that I return it, but once the new one gets here I'll send it back to them. I don't mind paying the couple of bucks it will cost to send it back. I suppose I could offer it up for sale as-is without a lace, but I wouldn't feel right about it. Besides, I don't want Karma to come back around and bite me on the...

I've done this twice now. As I had to replace my old one since it was dirtier than all get out. But I've broken the string on mine too. But I learned that the best way to do it so the string doesn't break is to get a screwdriver and thread two holes(cross ways like you were going to continue lacing) past your tightening point then wrap around the screwdriver for leverage and pull across the stitch. That way you pull the leather and not the string itself. Hope this helps. Good luck on the next go around.
