I got it when I was 16 and drove it through college and beyond for about 10 years, til it rusted so bad it wouldn't pass safety inspection anymore. I patched the body a few times, but the underneath got bad. Engine still ran great when I parked it. It had an insane amount of miles on it. I have a pic or two somewhere, but never scanned them. This was the good old days before cell phones and digital cameras. lol
A friend owned a black one. His too came as a 6 cylinder, non-A/C car. He added a nice 360 and found a factory air set up that he installed. He showed the car and rarely won witrh it. Finally sold it, bought an original 340 6 pack Demon that he did start winning trphies with. Added a blower, new wheels/tires and really started cleaning up at car shows. Many couldn't believe he cut a hole for the blower in an original 6 pk hood. He traded even up for a '70 Cuda from Kentucky that everyone loves.

I too was 12 in 1970.

1972 I wanted a '55 Chevy REAL bad. Cause an older guy who owned a red '55 Chevy 2-door Sedan that I helped work on is where the bug bit me. My cousin owned a '55 2-door Hardtop he had nothing but trouble with. So I stated looking at the '57 Chevy.

Found it setting at a local gas station one sunday afternoon while headed to get ice cream with my parents. It was in sad shape as it'd been used a parts car. (yes even the 2-doors got used as parts cars back then)

It's my high school graduation present from my parents. Cost was $150. We're still together today. Over 39 years later.

Oldest photo I have is from 1977. My dad refused to let me use his camera to take photos "Of that Chevy."

'68 327.

Saginaw 4-speed.

I tried to clean up the picture of your Chevy a bit. Those tri-five Chevy's are really cool cars.

2003 Monte Carlo SS, all yellow limited edition with the high-sport appearance package.

Picture of it in 2008, during its prime...

And why I no longer have the car...

Default First Car

1979 Chevy Malibu. Dad and I pulled it out of a cornfield where it had been sitting for a couple years with the hood open. Rebuilt the upper half of the engine and gave it a new paint job. Wish I would have held on to it.

My first car was a 1968 Mustang hardtop. It got me started on a long line of sports cars till I ended up with the best one of all - my 2007 Monte Carlo.

It's hard to believe that in 1977, a 57 Chevy was only a 20 year old vehicle and somewhat plentiful. I'm trying to think of it in today's terms. It would be kinda like owning a 1991 Camaro. Today, it's just a 20 year old Camaro. Someday it could be a very rare, and highly sought after car.
