What worst car have you bought ever?
I can't believe I bought a used '77 Honda Civic in '88. I called it the "Honda
from Hell". Every time it would get cold, the door locks & ignition would
freeze up. You had to be Japanese to work on the motor & even back then
parts were expensive. NEVER AGAIN!
My current next door neighbor is a Honda man - but he never keeps them past
3-4 years. I keep cars 10, 15, 20 years... (Chevys)

Very first car I bought, 1997 Chrysler Sebring JXI convertible. Decently sporty looking car, 150,000 miles and $2,500, I couldn't pass it up with how dumb I was back then. First thing that happened was the car needed a tune up, costs $700 because of the way the engine is built. (Mitsubishi engine). Then I hit a curb when the car slid in snow, needed new tie rods, new alignment, camber alignment system fixed. There were a million other issues, but the BIGGEST one was the convertible top.
The cloth that connected to the rear window eventually tore, creating a gaping hole in the back, so when it rained water would get in...when it snowed, snow would get in. I tried using car covers, but I couldn't afford water proof ones, and you can't drive the car with the car cover on it. Most depressing times I had with that car was when I was driving down a hill and all the water and the floor boards would slush up under my feet near the gas pedal and brake pedal, I had to pick my feet up and wait till I got going back up a hill, once home I would take a cup and scoop all the water out.
Eventually the transmission on the car died, it would no longer engage in drive at all, so I was forced to borrow my dad's car for awhile, saved up $1,700, used that as a down payment on my Monte, been happy ever since.

Mike, I think we may have been seperated at birth! :p
I had a 92(?) Dodge Spirit for about 6 months, got so completely disgusted with it. I traded it on my 95 Z28 (can you say day and night?). Dealership gave me $500 more for the car then I paid for it. So while being a crappy car it was a great investment! 16% ROI

Driving home one day I saw it up on the rack on the corner of the dealers lot, only time that Spirit barked tires was me yanking the wheel to pull into the lot. Signed the papers 2 hours later... I was late for dinner... ...about 3.5 hours late!
When my Sebring finally broke down I called a guy who specializes in picking up junked or run down cars. He came out with a tow truck and paid me $250 for the car and to tow it off, that covered the registration for my Monte and some extra spending money.
Worse car I ever owned??????? I can't think of a specific one?
My '94 Dodge Shadow ES has given me the most expensive repairs. Two transmission replacements in the 8 yrs I've owned the car. Last time it cost me more then the cost of the car in 2001. Hopefully the rebuilt Mopar trans will last as long as they warranty it for.
But I still own it. And drive the car almost every day.
I don't know whether to mention this or not? But I'm surprised at the abuse my '93 Shadow ES has taken at the hands of my girlfriend Debbie. I know the guys on AllPar posted some of the 1990s Mopars got good O/D transmissions in them, but most didn't. That's all I'm going to say on the subject.

Well I think there are two classes here, cars bought new and cars bought used.
My worst bought used was a 79 Chevy 4x4 pick up I bought in early 1999, but it was not really the trucks fault, really it was all the previous owners and the way the fixed things, I bought it in January and sold it in February for $100 less than I paid to a friend who I explained all the problems to, but he loved it.
My worst new was a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 with the Magnum 5.7 and a manual 5 speed. I really liked the Quad Cab, but it was the first year for both the engine and the Quad Cab and Dodge was still learning.
Brake were undersized and warped in the first 10,000 miles. When it got cold outside things would quit working - Power windows and Locks. Also something going on in the engine would get that tan froth in the oil cap, I don't even want to know why, I sold it with 40xxx. The differential needed work at 30000. It would loose the litte 2 in hub cap about every month, you can even see in these pictures it was missing two, I just got tired of replaceing them, when I went sell it I replaced them and glued them in with a little silicone adhesive. It was probably in the shop for warranty work 12-15 times. The condensation from the AC dripped on the exhaust manifold. Just lots of things, it was a cool truck, just wish it was built better.
