Default What are these for?

This last weekend I went to the lake with a couple friends. During our visit, we rode wave-runners (water couches in my opinion :p ). While covering them back up I asked what the two rubber cup like things are on the back.. No one knew! My Google skills are inadequate, so I thought I would ask here. Does anyone know? I added a picture for reference.
