Mornin guys. Home from work. I see a specialist tomorrow so I'll be taking a half day off work.

Matt, nice pics from yesterday from that Cruze meet. My brother has a 2012 Cruze. I've driven it and it's a zippy little car. Smaller than either of my Camaros actually. The Camaros are longer, wider, and heavier. The little turbo 4 banger impressed me for what it was, but so does the N/A 4 banger that's the base engine in the Nissan Altima. If I were to buy a 4 cylinder sedan, it would probably still be an Altima or a Subaru. I wouldn't mind a Subi for a long range storm chasing vehicle since they're AWD. I would love to see an AWD Altima, but the Infiniti G series have available AWD too. The Cruze is just too small and I never felt like I had enough leg room, even with the seats all the way back. Surprisingly enough, my 2nd gen Camaros are the only vehicles where I don't keep the seats all the way back. GM did a great job in the styling department on the Cruze though that's for sure.

I did get some good news today. I have a buddy in Tulsa (2 hour drive up the turnpike) who has a ton of parts for classic GM vehicles. He has almost all the parts I need for the 4L80E swap. I forgot to ask if he had a 4L80E torque converter, but he does have the slip yoke, has a crossmember that I'll mod for the transmission, and has a few parts that I need for the 73 as well. I'll be picking those parts up on Sunday. Just need to find a TC (which he may have too), mod the crossmember that I'll be buying, get the console I need (out of a 97-03 GP) to match my shifter that I'll use, and shorten the driveshaft. Then I'll have everything I need to swap the 4L80E into the 78. At some point, I'll want to swap in 3.23 or 3.42 gears but that will be able to wait. Most of my driving is done in town (where I won't even shift into OD) or on the highway doing 70-80 depending on the speed limit. I don't spend much time in the 60mph range, which is the only area I would worry about lugging.

I'm really looking forward to having the 78 back on the road. It'll be my DD till the first salt goes down on the roads. Then it'll be back to the truck. Hopefully the swap itself goes smoothly when I have everything together.

Good morning and happy hump day. Not much going on today besides school. I was going to wash the monte but the weather still looks crappy. Hoping later on today the weather starts to look nicer and I can get that done. It sucks it gets darker now earlier and makes the days always seem shorter.

Good. Morning everybody
I just took the Monte in to get the new steering pump installed.
Hopefully that goes well.
Last night, I was out for a drive and I got the dreaded check engine light on the way home. I scanned this morning and found the O2 sensor code. 😞
I cleared it and it hasn't come back so far, so hopefully it's ok.
It seems to be eating more gas than normal. I haven't done the fuel injector cleaner in a long while.
I'll check in later after the steering pump is in.
