All members of the staff serve as volunteers for the MonteCarloForum.com community on behalf of Internet Brands. None of the staff members are employed or compensated by Internet Brands. Just like many of us, they have jobs, family and other responsibilities outside of MonteCarloForum.com, but are frequently available to assist the MonteCarloForum.com community in a timely manner.

MonteCarloForum.com Rules

The Monte Carlo Forum membership is diverse, covering people from various countries, backgrounds, ages and experiences. Considering this diversity, and to make the forum enjoyable for the majority of our membership, we have adopted a set of simple posting guidelines.

  1. - Vulgar language, images and other offensive material including, but not limited to, sexual content, race, nudity or pornography is not tolerated here. The MonteCarloForum.com staff shall be the sole judges of what does and what does not violate the boards standards.

  2. - While debating and discussion is fine, respect your fellow enthusiasts. Being of a diverse background, members are likely to express different opinions, and while opinions may differ from yours, they are just that, opinions; and everyone is entitled to express theirs freely. We will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, or personal attacks. Do not flame, bother, bug, disrespect, hound or taunt ANYONE on the forums or through private messaging. This is considered harassment.

  3. - "Trolls" or "Trolling", "Flames" and/or "Board Wars" are not tolerated here or elsewhere. Posts that taunt or are otherwise inflammatory against other sites will be removed. This rule also applies to those that, for whatever reason, feel a need to post negative/bashing remarks about MonteCarloForum.com on other sites. If you do, don't expect to be welcome here.

  4. - Double posting is not allowed and can result in the deletion of one or both posts. Double posting is defined as posting the same information in two or more separate forums/sections. We understand that some topics might fit into more than one forum. Please try to pick the best one. In addition, please do not post in the same thread back to back (another version of double posting), if you have something more to add, edit your post, don't post twice in a row in a thread.

  5. - Selling or solicitation of ANYTHING in the general forum, by Private Message or in Chat is considered Spam and is not allowed. Anyone found posting excessive links to business websites, or suspected of "sneaky" advertising will be warned and will possibly lose their posting privileges. Post your private party ads in the MonteCarloForum.com Classifieds forum sections. Do not post a For Sale/Wanted thread outside of the Classifieds Section. If this is done, the staff can and will delete the thread without warning.
If you are a business and have a product or service that would be of interest to our members, visit our Advertising/Sponsorship page to learn how you can join our team and help support our community. Sponsorship is managed by our parent company, Internet Brands. Advertising Info can be obtained here: Advertising on the Internet Brands Network

  6. - Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short), "smiley" only, non-sense posts and such. Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count ("post whoring") is frowned upon. If you do engage in this type of activity, we can prevent your post count from increasing from that point forward or possibly ban your account.

  7. - No promotions of other related sites. There is no problem with occasionally using the name of other sites or even posting a link to a pertinent thread from another site, but repeatedly referring to other related sites is considered "SPAM" and is not allowed. This includes spamming or "RECRUITING" on behalf of MonteCarloForum.com on other sites. Please do not put links to them in your signature, profile or have a post, PM or Chat telling members to come over to another related site. Such activity is ground for removal from signature, and repeated offenses are grounds for being banned.

  8. - You are not allowed to post links that lead to an affiliate program or that in any way earn you something. We consider you earning something if you have an affiliate ID, website, or if you earn money from banner impressions or click-thru's. If you feel that you have a service or product that the members of MonteCarloForum.com can benefit from, notify an Administrator.

  9. - Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed and can quite possibly result in both accounts being removed without notice. Usernames containing (but not limited to) sexually explicit, or racial terms are not allowed. The forum staff have the final say of what is appropriate. If you want to change your username, please contact an administrator. Don't create a new account. An administrator can change your username for you.

  10. - Illegal transactions/sites, selling of personal information (i.e. credit cards, e-mail addresses), pornography, etc are not allowed in the forums and will result in the deletion of the post and the revocation of your posting privileges.

  11. - Use Private Messaging or E-Mail links instead of "paging" a member or members on the forum. Also, don't start a thread just to congratulate yourself on your post count. This is also considered "post whoring" since it's only purpose is to raise your post count. Everyone is happy for you that you reached your goal, but there's no need to create a thread about it. Mention it in the daily blog instead.

  12. - While these rules cover most common situations, we cannot anticipate everything. Therefore, the staff reserves the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure our that MonteCarloForum.com not disrupted or abused in any way.

Administrators and Moderators have final word in any dispute. If you have a problem, complaint or feel an item is in violation of the rules, direct it to the staff. They will then take the appropriate actions. This applies to issues with the forum in general, as well as issues with other members.

The Administrators and Moderators of MonteCarloForum.com have the right to delete, edit, move, or close any post for any reason without notice. Although we generally attempt to post, email, or PM an explanation of our actions, we are not required to do so. Ignoring the forum rules and warnings from the staff, or making public posts insulting the staff will not be tolerated.

  13. - "Signatures" must not violate any of the posted rules, and kept to a reasonable size. As determined by the staff. Signature pictures should not exceed 600 pixels wide and/or 200 pixels high. The staff reserves the right to edit or remove signatures that are too large, or violate any of the forum rules.

  14. - Use the SEARCH function to minimize redundant threads.

Limitations experienced until becoming a Full Member are as follows:

Rules and Information that apply to the MonteCarloForum.com Classifieds section.
Tech Guide Rules

The Tech Guides section is intended as a library or reference guide pertaining to the various generations of Monte Carlos.

If you have an item you would like to add to the Tech Guide sections, best location to post your thread in the Monte Carlo Repair Help section, use the prefix Submit Guide with your title. If you already created a guide and did not put it in that section, no problem. Once you've posted you guide, let the staff know. We will be happy to add it to the Tech Guide sections.

Please make post #1 of any Tech Guide thread the actual Tech Guide/How To information, not a asking for input from other members.

Only the staff for MonteCarloForum can add or move threads to the Tech Guide in order to help keep it a reference library.

Hopefully with everyone's help, MonteCarloForum.com can have a strong reference library of helpful information!

Use of Subject Prefixes

To help improve the ability to search for specific message threads, we have instituted a variety of prefixes with specific purposes. Please feel free to make use of them when they apply. If they are used incorrectly, the staff may update the subject of your thread and let you know. This is typically an honest mistake, take no offense to it. If the staff doesn't assist in managing these items, it clutters the idea behind leveraging the use of our search features with these prefixes. By the same, the staff may see a need to add a prefix and do so to include it in applicable searches.

Some of the prefixes to watch for are as follows:

  • Restoration - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed restoration. Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Engine Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed engine build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Trans Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed transmission build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Interior Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed interior build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Exhaust Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed exhaust build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Intake Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed intake build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Audio/Video Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed audio/video build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project and is typically related to setups beyond just changing a radio.
  • Suspension Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed suspension build up (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Misc Build - This is for threads that document an ongoing or completed build up for a topic not already listed (not looking for repair assistance). Typically include pictures about the project.
  • Submit Guide - When creating a thread to document "how to" do a task that you want added to the Tech Guides location, use this prefix so it stands out to the staff and the staff can move the thread and update the prefix. It's also helpful to send a PM to the staff letting someone know you just created a thread as a candidate for the Tech Guides.
  • Opinion Needed - If you are looking for the members of MonteCarloForum.com to provide an opinion, this prefix helps make that stand out.
  • eBay - This is offered in the For Sale/Trade section. If you are selling an item on eBay or found an item of interest on eBay, you can use this prefix to start a thread in the For Sale section alerting other members. Please note, this is still subject to the rules for the classified section and not to be used for businesses to circumvent the rules.
  • Craigslist - This is offered in the For Sale/Trade section. If you are selling an item on a public classified system like Craigslist or found an item of interest on another public classified system, you can use this prefix to start a thread in the For Sale section alerting other members. Please note, this is still subject to the rules for the classified section and not to be used for businesses to circumvent the rules.
The following prefixes can only be used by the staff of MonteCarloForum.com. They are used when moving new threads into the Tech Guides section:
  • Repair Guide - A guide documenting how to perform a specific repair on a Monte Carlo.
  • Mod Guide - A guide documenting how to perform a modification on a Monte Carlo.
  • Restore Guide - A guide documenting how to perform a restoration task on a Monte Carlo.
  • Guide - A guide documenting how to perform a generic task on a Monte Carlo (it may be a task that is used for multiple purposes, such as how to remove the dash board).
  • TSB - A Technical Service Bulletin. Typically from GM and includes the bulletin number (as it might be handy to provide a dealership).
One additional Staff-Only Prefix:
  • From the Staff - Used for official communications on behalf of the MonteCarloForum.com staff to the members of MonteCarloForum.

Again, feel free to use these as you feel they apply to your thread. If the staff finds any issues, it will be amended and is not an issue

The Daily Member's Blog

Each day a new thread is created for all members to chat about what ever is on your mind. It's in the "Off Topic" section of the forum, so the subject matter doesn't have to be car related.

Any member can start the daily blog. If you're the lucky one to start it that day, please add the prefix "Member's BLOG" from the pull-down menu (next to the thread title) when creating the thread. This helps everyone find the thread easier.

  • Include that day's date in the thread title.
  • Members must wait until after midnight, eastern time, to start the blog.
  • Posting short messages is acceptable in the daily blog ONLY. Posting something like, "Good morning MCF" to let people know you're online is fine. However the rest of the forum rules still apply.
If you think you have a subject that may be discussed at length, or be of interest for future reference, you may want to give it a thread of it's own. Info posted in the daily blog often gets buried and forgotten once the next day's blog is started.

Monte of the Month Rules and Requirements
Monte of the Month Rules and Requirements

The Monte of the Month competition is intended to be a fun and friendly competition. This competition is about more then just a nice looking Monte Carlo. It is about both showing pride in each other's Monte Carlos, as well as a way of appreciating the contributions other members on MCF.com have made.

Requirements:
  1. - Must be an active MCF.com Member - Should be at least 12 posts a month. If a member does not meet this requirement, the staff will determine if the member is considered to be active enough for eligibility.
    * Some members on MCF.com over lap on other Monte related forums. The member's activity on other forums do not count as eligibility for this competition.

  2. - Member's Monte Carlo must be posted in the Photo Gallery, have an MCF "Garage" or a link to Member's photo site - Please don't use another forum to host your pictures. Some forums will ban you for doing this. There's lots of FREE hosting space here and on the web.

  3. - Member's Monte Carlo photos should include pictures of Front/Side/Rear (Interior/Engine is also encouraged, but not a requirement)

  4. - Nominated members must currently own the Monte Carlo being nominated - If your car has been sold/you no longer own it, it's sitting in an impound or a junk yard, you're not eligible. In addition, if the Monte becomes for sale at any point during nominations or during the MOTM voting competition it is a part of, it is then automatically disqualified.

  5. - A Nominated Monte Carlo must be road worthy - This means it is currently in a condition that you can get in it, safely and legally drive it on the street. It is strongly encouraged to be free of CEL conditions, but not a requirement. If the car is a track-only car, it must meet track safety standards. If there is an unusual circumstance, then the staff will make a final decision.

  6. - MOTM winners are ineligible for the MOTM contest the following calendar year.

  7. - Only Monte Carlos are eligible - We welcome members even if they don't currently own a Monte Carlo, but since this is Monte of the Monte, only members with an eligible Monte can compete in this competition.

Rules:
  1. - Every MCF Member can nominate one member's Monte and support the nomination of one other Member's Monte - You can not nominate and support the same member. Only your first supporting nomination ("support") will count.
    * All member's are eligible for MOTM (including Admins and Moderators)

  2. - You cannot nominate your own car.

  3. - The Top three Member's, with the most nominations will be entered into the MOTM Contest - In the event there is a tie prompting for more then a top three nominees, it will be up to the staff to address this unique situation.

  4. - The MCF Monte of the Month Nominations will begin, ten days before the end of each Month or determined by the MCF Staff.

  5. - Voting will begin five days before the end of the Month or determined by the MCF Staff.

  6. - Contest Ends, five days after voting begins - The closing date and time is posted with the voting results.

  7. - Winner will be confirmed by the MCF Staff & posted. - The voting doesn't necessarily end at midnight. The voting poll will display the exact day and time the voting ends.

  8. - Each Monte Of The Month winner for that calendar year, will be entered in the Monte Of The Year contest held at the end of the year (or early the following year).

  9. - Votes will remain anonymous - However, in the unlikely event of a dispute over the voting results, an Administrator may need to reveal the results to the forum staff. Decision of the forum administrators is final.

  10. - In the event of a tie for MOTM, there will be a one day "sudden death" tie breaker poll between the two who tied.

  11. - Once a win has been confirmed, an admin (or person currently incharge of the MOTM calendar) will contact the winner for a current pic to be used in the calendar - Please do not make multiple submissions. It takes a lot of work to assemble the calendar, we prefer one pic per winner. Also, please do not submit a photo with a "For Sale" sign in it, if this is the only photo you can provide, the staff will decide how to address this (the pic may be Photoshopped or replaced with a different pic at the staff's discretion).

These rules can be amended at the MCF.com staff's discretion.

Decisions made by the MCF.com staff are final!

These rules are intended to prevent previous problems or people looking for loopholes. We can't anticipate everything, so if a problem comes up, the staff will do our best to come to an acceptable solution.

If you don't win right away, don't take it personally. It can sometimes take multiple times to get nominated and make it to the poll and sometimes multiple times to the poll before a win is achieved. If you are seriously interested in winning MOTM, post good information/updates frequently so other members learn who you are and something about you. If you can assist other members looking for help with a problem and/or post pics of your own Monte, both are good ways to help your chances to get nominated, supported and voted for MOTM.

If you don't get nominated for MOTM or don't win MOTM, please do not post messages about why you should have been nominated or won. This typically comes across as angry, selfish, looking for a pity nomination/vote and ends up being disrespectful to those who did get nominated or won MOTM. This is not good character of someone deserving of MOTM. Some members have made postings like that in the past and they did not make friends after that and it did yield any favorable results.
