Unveiled: 2021 Suburban/Tahoe
Here it is. What's everyone's initial thoughts?
Last night in Detroit GM unveiled the all-new 2021 Suburban and Tahoe. Some intriguing points to mention is the adoption of an independent rear suspension, allowing a substantial increase of interior space by lowering the floor at the cargo and third row seat, and the addition of a new 3.0L inline-6 (the same inline-6 in the Silverado). Engines will be the upgraded 5.3L and 6.2L V8s plus the 3.0L diesel. Available trim packages will be the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier and the addition of High Country becoming available on this platform. These will go on sale mid-2020.
I like it; been a chevy fan for years and I believe all of the designs of the vehicles are great. Visually appealing, sleek, stylish interiors with good technology, yet I'm still ready to see a new MC. There is hope.

This front is a MUCH better rendition of what they tried to do on the '19+ Silverado. As long as they don't do that God awful grill with 'CHEVROLET' spelled across the horizontal bar we'll be good. The back is the only downfall imo as it looks like an afterthought - too generic looking and doesn't really blend with the rest of the design. Overall, I like it. Once I see some in person I'll have a better idea.
I like it besides the giant grille. Just not a fan of that trend across automakers lately, but I guess at least it's not as bad as the Lexus where the whole front end is grille...
My biggest complaint is the price. The current Tahoe starts at like $50k, and gets up to $70++. Sounds like the new version will be a bit higher even. Just seems odd to have such a big gap between the $25-30k ish other SUVs and this at $50k starting. I'd rather see more stripped down offerings than adding even more features / options to keep driving the price up.
We did look at them briefly when we got our SUV a few years ago. I had hoped to check the box for my wife on a more spacious vehicle (as she was coming from an Impala) along with something that could tow one of my cars for track days and such. Ended up with an Edge as I couldn't justify the huge price delta when the only tangible benefit to us was being able to tow a couple times a year.
TBH, $65k for a middle of the road option is kinda nuts for a typical American family's daily driver.

The styling and flow is actually pretty nice in my opinion until you hit the rear which, to me, is a jumbled mess of parts and screams 'Asian' - it's like they slapped a Toyota Sequoia rear end on a Suburban.

Like you said, even cars are starting to get massive grilles - Malibu and Cruze to note a few Chevys, Hyundai is going crazy. I think the 'over styling' of cars is getting out of control. Someone needs to tell these designers there's a point where you just need to stop, 'set the pencil down' - it's almost like they have too much time and keep tweaking things past 'what they should be'. Sometimes 'less is more'.

I totally agree but what's even more nuts is that people buy em up like they're going out of style
I like it except for the grill. As already mentioned above, I'm not a fan of the new massive grill. The price is kinda expensive. But it is a nice SUV.
