I got a ticket when I was 18 for going 137mph OVER the speed limit, along with 4-points, $85 in court cost and a $285 fine... Oh... and a broken nose as the Officer hand cuffed me and smashed my face into the hood of my car not once, not twice, but three times to insure I was taking him seriously, as he thought I was being disrespectful. That was back in the day when a cop could beat you to death if he wanted too (1976 ish). 1966 Mustang, 289-HI-PO, port and polished, blueprinted, super high rise, dual quads (650 Holley dual feeds), 11:1 comp pistons, 4-bolt mains, race cam (forget the lift and duration), Dual point, Super Coil, B&M trans, Detroit Locker, etc... ran in the 12s.

Fastest in a bass boat 109-MPH based on a radar gun, and that was the most scared I have EVER been!!! Talk about fighting to stay in control....

137 over the speed limit is a pretty good feat, what was the limit. Im guessing the fine would be more now.

That's the fine for 10 over now. Apparently, there were no police brutatlity or humiliation laws at the time that a good lawyer could have gotten the whole thing dropped for.

I used to be younger and dumber. I once drove from Bend, OR to Las Vegas, NV in 10 hours/ It is roughly 800-900 miles. We were in my 97 civic ex and set the cruise at 119 since it was restricted at 120.

78 Ford Granada 85 ish
1985 Subaru Wagon 85 ish
1990 Subaru Wagon 110
1997 S10 4.3 100
94 Del Sol SI 120
95 Firebird Formula 130 (Speed Limited)
97 Civic EX 120 (speed Limited)
1985 Honda CRX 65 (pos)
95 Fire Bird Trans Am 130 (Speed Limited)
2001 Subaru wrx 140 with 4 adults in the car Backed off because I got nervous. This car spent a lot of time above 100 and cost me 8 speeding tickets in 3 states in 2 years. Lots of engine work and running 19 pounds of boost. I miss that car.
2000 Mitsubishi Montero sport 100
1985 Chevy Blazer K5 75
2004 Monte Carlo SS 100. Not to many places safe enough to build speed.

Be safe everyone

I really never learned where the radar shot was taken, I was stopped by a road block, and I had no clue I was being chased. Now, where the road block was, the speed limit was 45, but... Where I am from the speed limit ranged from 60 to 55, depending where you were, and I do not remember any specific speed on the ticket - just the 137 over and underlined three times. I'm thinking it had to be one of those yellow caution signs that say 35 turn - sort of thing, because I don't know the top speed of that car, but I know it wasn't a 200 MPH car!!!

Several things...
1. I was 18, I worked, but just about every dime I made went into that car!!!
2. I was 18, and thought I knew it all, so I went into court without a lawyer!!!
3. This was in the mid-1970s, police could get away with quite a lot!!!
4. This was the mid-1970s, when teachers could swat you, neighbor would swat you, and while the police got away with murder, they also let you get away with a lot!!! Like, at 18 (and back then, at 18 I could drink legally) I got pulled over for something stupid, and me and my buddies (some 16, some 17, and one 18) had a 12-pack of beer in the car and I had an open beer between my legs. The officer, had us pour out the open beers, and he took the unopen beers and off we went. Today, I would have been arrested for a ton of violations!!!
5. I honesty, I was being disrespectful... He told me that I was driving wrecklessly, and I said, no sir, I have a roll bar, brass blow-proof, drive shaft safety loops, battery lock down, and auto fire system, etc... Besides the car was setup to handle high speeds. So the officer said, ok, your car is safe, but what if someone pulled out in front of you... and I said, well, they wouldn't have felt any pain if I hit them at that speed. That is when he slammed my head into the hood and asked me if I felt any pain...

Times were different back then... In a lot of ways, it was better because police could actually use their own judgement instead of I AM REQUIRED TO DO THIS as it is now!

It was in a Gambler 201, with a highly modified 225 VMax, and custom prop... The lake was like glass, and the wind was in my favor... Scared me bad enough, I would never do it again!!! Started to chine walk bad enough I thought for sure I was going to die!!!

My dad and I were in my '95 Impala SS shortly after I got it. 135 mph on the digital read out speedo. No traffic, on the highway! Fun as hell!!!
