Good morning everyone!!

We have a strong threat of Strong long lasting Tornadoes today, mostly for this area right here

But also Storm Prediction Center Day 1 convective outlook for Thursday has a large 30% risk area for severe straight-line wind around a hatched area for significant severe wind threat, stretching from northern MS to extreme southwest OH.
Tornadoes are also a possibility in all of these area as well

Behind this area once again is seeing a lot of snow

Get ready for tomorrow too!!

As I said yesterday, there are certain entities on the internet trying to hype up a non existent violent tornado threat. The graphics from the SPC do not refer to a 'Hatched' area on their tornado threat graphic for today (the hatched area indicates a threat of EF2 or above tornadoes).

The SPC is giving the primary threat as primary winds and isolated tornadoes embedded in the leading edges of the lines of storms. These will likely be of a EF0-EF1 variety and it is highly likely that the straight line winds will cause more damage than one of these embedded tornadoes.

Just felt like I had to clear that up. I've been tracking tornadoes since I was a kid and I'm more inclined to agree with the SPC than with someone who I have no clue who they are. While I'll make my guesses as to where to position myself as a chaser for the storms to fire, I defer to the NWS and SPC on the overall forecast of the event. If the SPC graphic doesn't have a hatched area for tornado probability and there's still a moderate risk, then there are other things to worry about more other than tornadoes.
