For my next vehicle I've been thinking of getting a wagon. You know, something smaller and with better gas mileage than a SUV, but can still haul some stuff in. The obvious choice would a Subaru, but people seem to hold on to those with kung-fu grip. Which brings me to another thing; I'd like to have an AWD, but it's not necessary.

From what I've gathered so far is to stay away from these if the timing belt has ever broken (replaced may be fine if done before breaking). My friend is an Audi mechanic and he's replaced 4? timing belts on his t.t. S4 already. I almost bought a 96 Passat wagon that ran like a top, but it wouldn't pass emissions very easily. Other than that, there's really nothing too uncommon from what I've read.

My question is: Who's owned one of these, and what did/didn't you like about it?
