The Taliban did more to end communism than Reagan. They learned during the Afgan war with Russian that you can't beat a superpower with weapons, but you can harrass them and kill enough of them that they either give up or go broke, or more likely, both.

Sound kinda familiar, Mr. Bush?

As for Reagan ending Communism, I don't think so...it's still alive and well in many places, such as China, Cuba and Vietnam. He did help to make the Soviet Union go broke trying to keep pace with our military spending, although that was essentially started in the 1950's. He just happened to be in office when they went broke, and split into the various Republics. That and the people in those countries were tired of the system itself.

It wasn't but a few years ago China was still our mortal enemy. Now all of us want to go there.

There's a somewhat funny line in Star Trek VI where Spock says to Kirk, "The Vulcans have a saying... Only Nixon may go to China." That was because during the Nixon years only Richard M. was invited. China hated westerners and it was still pretty much a closed nation like it had been for centuries. Now they have many of thejobs our country used to have.

Prospects for the Global Economy

Global Economic Prospects 2008[:-]
Outlook summary
After four years of robust GDP and trade growth, conditions in global financial markets have turned from favorable to less stable and less predictable. Global GDP growth eased to 3.6 percent in 2007 from 3.9 percent in the preceding year, and gains will moderate further in 2008, led by the high-income countries. Importantly, developing countries should provide a modicum of support for trade, such that more adverse global GDP outturns are avoided.More...Forecast summary

Hey mad, here is the info you requested. Remember, if it's written down on uncyclopedia, it's true.

However, you will probably enjoy the article on Martin Van Buren a little bit more.

I'd like to know what anyone see's in John McCain. So many people vote for him because "he is the man who can beat hte Democrats". Are these people thinking right, or am I being left out of a loop somewhere.

He doesn't poll well amongst conservatives because he voted for amnesty and against the Bush tax cuts

He doesn't poll well amongst liberals becasue he is a staunch supporter of hte war, saying he would keep us there 100 years, we must finish the job.

He doesn't poll well amongst libertarians because, lets face, he's a big government, big tax kind of guy.

So he isn't going to do well amongst any of these groups in my opinion. I'm willing to lay down money... he won't take 15 states if he makes it.
