Tip 1. Do routine maintenance.
Tip 2. Check all items that can wear down on a frequent basis. If you notice wearing... see tip 1.

That's really all you need. Just take care of the car and it will take care of you.

Looks like MSN is having server issues, or it's our servers here at work..

I think the main issues these days is trying to get transmissions to last 200k miles.. I'm nearing 100k in my car and am fairly happy with how my transmission has held up, but I wouldn't expect it to last another 100k.

The 3800 worries me a bit also, but I guess we'll wait and see how she runs for the next 5-10 years.

Most people often check fluid and think... well it's not bad now, I'll wait until it starts to look bad. By then it is just too late.

Especially these trans. Just drop the pan, replace the filter and about 8 qts of Dexron 6 like every 30,000 miles. Don't worry if the book recommends a longer interval.

Check stuff, keep stuff clean, and you will have a very happy car

Does anyone have any general, routine maintenance questions? This could be a nice place to put them. Nothing is a stupid question!

To give you an idea how how tough the 3.8 is, a buddy of mine has a boosted 3.8 and runs 10 second quarter miles. The 3.8 is stock...

Another example is when my 3.8 in my last car overheated to the point where it lost compression and stopped. I added water and it started back up perfectly and had a perfect idle and has been running good ever since from what ive herd.
