Default Just turned 200,000 miles

I just turned 200,000 miles on my '96 Lumina 3.1. Who says that American car companies don't make a good product??? Just routine maintenance has kept it going this long. No major repairs.

Good stuff! Just a little further and you can visit the moon!

"Since the moon's orbit is elliptical (oval-shaped), its distance varies from about 221,463 miles (356,334 kilometers) at perigee (closest approach to Earth) to 251,968 miles (405,503 kilometers) at apogee (farthest point). The average distance from the moon to the Earth is 238,857 miles (384,392 kilometers)."

Took that from enotes.com. Congrats on maintaining your car so well. Preventative maintenance is the best kind. Hope you get 200,000 more!

Congrats!! Good feeling, isn't it??

My '94 Grand Am (3100 V6 is 240 miles away from crossing 200K). Granted, no one will believe me for another 7,300 miles (I swapped the instrument cluster way back when for the full guage package).

I agree with you, any car, with regular maintence can do it. I changed the head gaskets on this Grand Am last October 18X,XXX miles on it at that point).

When I bought the '94 Grand Am in 2003 with about 86K on it, I said I will drive it for 5 years or 200K miles (which ever comes first and back then I was really driving a lot of miles). Many people I know did not believe me or thought it would drain my wallet to reach those goals. It's been a good car and still is a good car. Just wish the winters in my area weren't so bad on the body of the car. As long as that Grand Am runs, my Monte is tucked away for the winters (it was bought to replace my Grand Am back in September of '08).

Again, great announcement. May that Lumina keep running strong!!!!

Hi JaxJim, Great to read another American Made Auto hit over 200K & close to the distance to the Moon (thanks `Greg, I keep learning something on the MCF : ) , and I'm sure it will bring you back....for a cross country trip in the USA...
USA ~> USA ~> USA Yes, we can

Congratualtions on the milestone.

My '86 Monte is a 200K survivor. 210,xxx miles is more like it.

It did get an engine swap. But that was before I owned it. The PO scrapped the original 305 and had someone install a used 305 H O under the hood.

Sweet looking '86 RJ. It's cool to see a classic that's being driven instead of just sitting in a garage.
