Default Real Detroit Cops robbing people at Gunpoint

Wow, what would you do if you lived in Detroit and was getting pulled over, run for it or what? Even people pumping gas are not safe from these bad cops. And these are the ones who got caught, apparently the 3 in the Crown Vic got away. Hope not to many more are out there making a fast buck... Watch your back out there you Michigan forum members

"Fake Cops" Robbing Detroit Citizens At Gunpoint Turn Out To Be Real Cops Robbing Citizens At Gunpoint

A string of robberies by people "dressed as police" led the people of Detroit to believe there were "fake cops" out robbing people at gunpoint, it turns out they were "not fake after all," MyFoxDetroit reports:

DETROIT (WJBK) - A second officer, a 17-year veteran from Saint Clair Shores, has been arrested accused of robbing unsuspecting drivers at gunpoint.

On Saturday, Fox 2 also reported a Detroit police sergeant was arrested at the 12th precinct. A tip sent to Fox 2 helped lead to the arrests. We forwarded a photo from one scene to Detroit Police. They recognized one of their own in the photo.

More information is expected Monday during a press conference scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m.

The first incident took place at a Citgo gas station near French and I-94 on Detroit's east side last Sunday. The clerk says two white men in a black Ford F-150 with police lights allegedly pistol-whipped customers pumping gas. The men stole cash and cell phones from their victims. A warning went out to be on the lookout for "fake cops" but it turns out those officers were not fake after all. It appears the sergeant in this case was driving his personal vehicle.

There were at least two reports of men posing as police officers and robbing unsuspecting drivers at gunpoint. The men had police badges, bullet proof vests and guns. They looked very official and police considered them armed and dangerous.

A second incident happened near Harper and 3 Mile Drive. A man says he was pulled over by three men in a unmarked Crown Victoria. The man was searched and while he answered questions, his wallet and CDs were stolen.

So, what can you do? Even police say you have permission not to stop if you don't believe a real police officer is trying to pull you over. Instead, call 911 and ask the dispatcher for assistance. If all else fails, drive to the nearest precinct.

It happens all the time. If you are getting pulled over and don't see any marking on the car or if there us only one set of flashing lights (a real police car will have headlights, roof and grill flashing), call 911 before getting pulled over and make sure they are real:

Authorities in Mississippi are searching for a police impersonator. The suspect has already killed two people near the casinos in Tunica.
That raises the question: How do you make sure that a real cop pulling you over? Fox 6 spoke with Alabama State Trooper Curtis Summerville to find out.
"If your gut instinct, gut feeling tells you this person is not legitimate police officer, we certainly want you to take necessary precautions," he said.
He says motorists should only pull over for red or blue lights. If you see them in your rear view mirror and are still concerned, turn on your flashers.
"At this point you are acknowledging that you know this person is a attempting to stop you, slow down to a reasonable speed. And just keep going until you get to a lit area," Summerville said.
Trooper Summerville says you can also call 911. And while it's OK to keep driving until you get to a well-lit area, he says you can't take that too far. Motorists should drive to the very first well-lit, well-populated area to pull over.

And these girls did leave, called 911 and were still arrested. Some cops take things a little to far...

Published time: July 01, 2013

Undercover Virginia police pulled a gun and tried to break through the car windows of a 20-year-old college student, suspecting that the underage girl’s sparkling water was a 12-pack of beer. She was later jailed.

When agents from Virginia’s Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) division saw college student Elizabeth Daly leaving a supermarket with cookie dough, ice cream, and a 12-pack, they assumed that she had purchased beer as an underage student and took extreme actions to stop her.

The seven plainclothed agents approached the vehicle in which the girl and her roommates were sitting, and one officer allegedly jumped on the hood of the car. Daly claims another officer pulled out his gun, which scared the students and prompted them to drive away.

"They were showing unidentifiable badges after they approached us, but we became frightened, as they were not in anything close to a uniform," Daly wrote in an account submitted to the court.

"I couldn't put my windows down unless I started my car, and when I started my car they began yelling to not move the car, not to start the car,” she added. “They began trying to break the windows. My roommates and I were ... terrified."

When one of Daly’s roommates urged her to “go, go, go”, Daly drove off, allegedly grazing two of the agents in the process. As they were leaving the supermarket parking lot, they called 911 to report the incident. They were then pulled over by another policeman driving a marked vehicle with lights and sirens, Charlottesville Commonwealth Attorney Dave Chapman told the Charlottesville Daily Progress.

When Daly found out who the agents were, she apologized profusely for the misunderstanding. But she was nevertheless charged with two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer and one count of eluding police – felonies which each carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

The ABC defended the charges, arguing that the girl’s response was illegal and inappropriate.
“Other agents did not join the incident until the subject refused to cooperate,” the ABC said in a statement published by USA TODAY. “Rather than comply with the officers’ requests, the subject drove off, striking two officers. She was not arrested for possessing bottled water, but for running from police and striking two of them with a vehicle.”

Daly spent the night in jail, and described the ordeal as “an extremely trying experience.” Prosecutors dropped all the charges on Thursday, noting that her written account of the incident was factually consistent.
But the young college student, who purchased ice cream and bottled water for an on-campus event, still does not understand why she was put through so much trouble -- especially since she has never drank alcohol.

Heard of this stuff before. What the heck is our world coming to? I was always brought up that Police where there to help us sorta like Superman. As I grew older my bubble burst. Who's a cop who's not? Who's a good cop who's not?

Wow the world is going nuts. Some police are not the brightest people in the world.

I am not going to make a new thread for this but recently in Toronto, this has been a huge story. Basically this 18 year old kid on a streetcar had a knife and police were called due to a disturbance he caused. 10 police officers were unable to remove the man without one of the officers shooting him 10 times and killing him.

The kid had a knife and was exposing himself to a couple girls and police showed up but I guess they didn't want to spend the time trying to negotiate with this kid to put down a knife.

Hell, they didn't even shoot and kill the Boston Bomber but they shot this kid.

Check out the story here and the video. I am sure this would be huge news if it happened in the States. There was a huge protest the other day too.

Incidents like this are nothing new. What is new is the ability to instantly broadcast it around the world. Keep in mind that these are isolated incidents and do not represent the majority. Anyone can take any incident and escalate it into a 'viral' story. Something else that seems to have become commonplace is the media's willful embellishment of the facts. If it isn't full of controversy and/or play on your emotions then it's not worth printing...

This thread topic is very sad on what is happening in the USA & our world...Yes, there are a small percentage of police officers that go bad, but there is a higher percentage that are dedicated officers that risk their life everyday for `us, for you..(Thanks You).

Our police officers are only as good or bad as what their communities demand or don't demand...

Police Officer are public servants, we pay for them with our tax dollars. I think it is the community that is responsible for the conduct & actions of their officers... If you have a Bad public servants, you fire them...We get what we pay for & demand...It's everyone responsibility to be involved in their communities & to support the officers that protect us & to report those that are not performing their duties...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^.......^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Don't worry we'll protect you ^^^
That's all, my mind is to tired to continue....Your thoughts ?

That's precisely why I DONT live in the city of Detroit and have a concealed carry permit! as does Lizzy!

They say if your not sure.... call 911 and tell them your being pulled over but are suspiscious about who they are... and tell the operator where your going/head to the nearest police station! That should...keep you safe!
