Unhappy New Car???

So the monte decided to break again on me today. Needs a new rad (again) and while getting a oil change done as well the mechanic seen that the power steering pump was leaking, as well as leaks on my tranny lines.. Waiting for the rad to get done, thatll be $300, to get the other lines done its going to be $400-500. my fiance just wants me to fix the rad then trade it in on something newer and more reliable (monte has 224,820km on it now) I am not sure what i want to do i get extremely attached to my cars, this one more then others, and want to cry just thinking about parting with her. If i did i was thinking of just getting a 3.6 Charger, think they look good, sporty, still fun to go for cruises. He wants me to get some SUV like a Terrain/ Durango/ Journey.. for camping and all my dog sport stuff ( i say thats all possible with a car, you save on fuel, maint..) What do you guys think and what would you do??

Personally, if I don't need 4x4 or the extra room I would go with a car. I like the extra gas mileage. Good luck with your decision.

I would do the repairs on it and drive it. They all seem like minor issues. Even if you make all the necessary repairs and they cost you $1000 it's still cheaper then a car payment for a year.

He's just thinking of it this way. He owned it before me and put new tranny, engine, other work into it.. Putting himself in debt over it. I got it from him with 177,000 km on it, since I've owned it I've spent over $5000 in repairs as well

With everything that he did and you did, I would think that you should be able to get lots of miles out of this car relatively cheap. The only thing that would screw this up is if quality parts are not installed. Is the body rust free? If it is I would continue fixing and driving the Monte. One of the worst ways to spend money is a new car. Most people end up with five to seven years of car payments. With interest included you pay almost twice for the car. After you have 3000 miles on it you also have to start maintaining it. New cars are money pits. Maintaining and driving an older car is still cheaper than making a new car payment plus maintenance.
