need opinions
Im gonna be buying an 87 monte as and was thing of painting it flat or satin black with two red racing stripes and putting black 24's with a red lip. And the interior all black. I think it would look dope but I want other peoples' opinions. Tryna go for like a murdered out look. And was also wondering which is easier to care for n last longer flat or satin black.

The flat black look is okay, but I always feel like it looks unfinished, as if the paint looks more like primer. If you like it though then do it.
As for the 24's, IMO they look horrible and I don't understand why anyone would want them. They hurt the vehicles performance/gas mileage/reliability, and they're just begging people to either steal them or the car itself.
Good luck. I recommend dropping a sbc in there and then that will bring a smile to your face.

I would agree with zipper normally about flat black, making the car look unfinished and such but I saw one in Maryland and spoke to the guy for a bit, looked totally awesome with 18 inch rims
I do agree though that 24's are a bit to big for my taiste but that's me, if you like it go for it...
Here are the pics I took of zee car in Maryland:
Loved that car,
Joe

Yea flat black and red would look pretty sweet. Not too sure about the 24's either, but if you do make sure the black is flatte, and the red lip matches the stripes?
What about 20s in front and back, with some thick tires in the rear? That might look just as good.
Heres a black/red one i found on cardomain.

The satin black with red stripes would look good. But it can be tricky, because many times flat or satin black come out looking like the car is stuck in the primer stage of painting. In your case, the red stripes would take care of that. So you should be good there. But here's my view on the 24's.
Some cars can pull them off. Mostly newer cars that have larger wheel wells. But the 4th gen Montes were designed to run with 14/15 inch rims. All the 4th gens I've seen with 24's had to be lifted to fit them under the car. This gave them sort of a monster truck look.
I don't know about your area, but around here the fascination with putting wheels 22 inches and up on cars, is dying out. They're expensive, get damaged VERY easily by pot holes, get stolen, kill your gas mileage, ride like a freight train, and the most important part: They're getting laughed at by most people.
But that's around my area. Most people are going with 18-20 inch rims. I would go with 20's at the largest.
You can say, "I don't care what people think". A lot of people say that. But we all know that's not true. Obviously we care what people think of our ride. That's why we spend money and time customizing it in the first place. If we didn't care what people thought of our rides, we'd all be driving a Prius hybrid.
I'm not saying you should keep it bone stock. Not at all. I want to see you make it truely yours and be proud of it. If you really want 24's, go for it. It's your car, and your money.
Good luck with your build. Please keep us updated on your progress.
