I was surprised it was from BMW...

They sure had some unique-interesting designs in the prior years of my existence 4>Sure...

One quick note about the American Motors Matador, this car was feature in the James Bond Movie The Man with the Golden Gun. Stared Roger Moore, in the end of the Chase scene this car donned wings and a Jet engine and they made it fly. ( actually it was a model) The Highlight of the scene was seeing the actress Britt Eckland in the Trunk in her bikini. kind of an eye candy moment. She is most likely retired old and grey by now. and now you know the rest of the story.
