Microsoft is finally getting serious about the tablet revolution, with plans to launch not one but two super-thin Windows-powered tablets named Surface.

Since it (or the iPad or Google) can't run programs you would normally run on your desktop/laptop computer I wouldn't even classify it as a laptop. For what it is, it does have some nice features that the competitors don't. I have no use for one, but for those that do it gives them another option.

I did not read the article, but looks like it's running the new Windows 8 OS. I've been playing some with Release Preview at work. I'm not impressed. They have added some cool stuff and made others and obnoxious pain (at least for now).....

Well now that i took the time to read the article....im still not impressed I give microsoft credit for what they're doing as their only tablet business is tablet computers running windows 7. But personally im not a fan of the windows 8/windows phone layout. Never the less if i see it in stores i'll be sure to stop and mess with it for a bit like i do every other gadget

It's nice and all. And giving the others a little competition usually brings out the best in all of them. But my biggest concern is it's microsoft windows based. And microsoft's software is notorious for being plagued with bugs and glitches, and historically been extremely vulnerable to viruses. And windows usually takes up a crap-load of memory.

yeppers.
Apple just announced another iOS upgrade, Microsoft comes late to the party and I just bought an Asus Transformer 300 Android tablet.
After having and dealing with an iPad using the Transformer is like a being tomcat that's been let outside for the first time. Lots of adventure but got to be careful out there.
