Dom't Laugh Space! its a 1978 Lotus Eclat. So far we have found out it is 1 of 300 made that year. Oxford white and car # 256. I will need to get pics to it...but heres the link from Craigs list. Its in need of a resto from bottom up. It is all fiber glass. It will be a screamer when we are done. As far as the Monte goes...she will be getting a body kit and some other future mods. I love this car and will be driving it until its dead

The Lotus Esprit and Eclat
Hethel secures its future with a spectacular new mid-engined sports car
and a sportier Elite derivative

Those of us with any concern for the declining British specialised car industry have been worried about the future of Lotus Cars since the company placed 100% reliance in the expensive Elite earlier this year. Not surprisingly in these fraught times registrations of this £6,493 to £7,970 2-litre car have been poor – though picking up recently – and the company desperately needed a second, cheaper, higher sales potential sports car to produce an economic output and profitability from the modern Hethel plant. On the Ital Design stand at the Paris Motor Show last month Colin Chapman eventually revealed his essential trump card, the mid-engined two-seater Lotus Esprit, the most exciting, attractive, series production British sports car to appear since the E-type in 1961. On performance and specification at its price of £5,844, this 138mph, 0-60mph in 6.8sec. Esprit currently has few serious sports-car rivals below the level of Porsche and Ferrari. The closest comparisons are the Lanica Beta Monte Carlo and the less futuristic, probably more expensive, AC 3000.
A further encouragement for Lotus survival should be the Eclat, a coupé version of the Elite introduced at the London Motor Show.
The Lotus Esprit
The production Esprit stems from the design exercise of the same name created by Ital Design's Giorgio Giugiaro for the 1972 Turin Show. The mechanical and chassis side of this mostly steel model was largely Twin-Cam Europa. In production form the Esprit body is glass-fibre-reinforced plastic produced in two halves, by Lotus' well protected method of low-pressure injection moulding in an identical method to that of the Elite. Like those of the Elite, the two body halves are joined together along a prominent waistline by Chief Engineer Tony Rudd's "belt and braces" method of bonding and bolted bracketry. A new, but familiar style backbone chassis carries the Elite's 160bhp version of the Lotus-designed and built, 1973cc, four-cylinder, 16-valve, twin-cam engine first produced for the Jensen-Healey. In this mid-engined application this Lotus 907 unit is positioned in-line, with its clutch to the rear, and is canted over at 45° to the horizontal on its exhaust side, as in the Elite and Jensen-Healey/Jensen GT.
Giugiaro in Turin was responsible for 'productionising' his original theme for Lotus. Apart from the change to glassfibre, which the designer had never worked with, major modifications were to decrease the rake of the screen by 3° to comply with US roll-over strength legislation and to dispense with the fully-opening rear-end in favour of a lid which is little larger than the 'big, sloping rear window. There was actually a 3 year long waiting list on white Lotus Esprit's after this movie was made.

I have had many a dream cars in my past. Lamborghini Countach, Vector, McLaren, ect. Which is why I am in the auto business to begin with. A mad passion for cars. Which brings me too the point of this topic. Dream Cars….

Recently I went to Florida to have a Ferrari Race Team test our new Ceramic Brake System out at Moroso Motorsports Park near West Palm Beach Florida. While there I noticed there would be an exotic car show at the beach that weekend and attended.

First observation. You people in Florida have WAY too much money, ok! So we saw a lot of really nice cars lined up. You can view them here from a slideshow I put together. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SLd8SmpOr8) ignore the first part. It is us installing the brake system on the Ferrari. Anyways, so I come across this Lambo looking car, very sweet lines. Look under the car (just a crack) to see a full Penske system under there (very expensive) with air ride (wow). Then I check out under the hood, OMG an LS2 with twin turbos! I figure this thing must rock out. Then I look at the brake system, ahh junk! I will save the embarrassment of who’s brakes they were. Trust me they were cheap junk. Especially for a car that just broke the world fastest production car speed record (256mph) on the street! I talk to the guy who is the marketing agent for the car. Car name? Shelby Super Cars (Not Carroll Shelby). It is called the Ultimate Aero. 1180 hp (OMG!). This car is crazy, I will own one. So long story short I convinced the guy he needs our Ceramic brakes on this monster. He says no problem. So for $30,000 a set we will be supplying our brakes on my dream car. Life just doesn’t get any sweeter. Hopefully when we get the test cars done up I will get to romp on it. I will report back ASAP. So in the mean time enjoy some of the pictures.
