Good morning guys.
It's been a hot one! Saturday made it up to 105 degrees and yesterday 103 where we are. Some places in Lower MI hit 110. Had some pretty good storms move through the Lower Peninsula yesterday afternoon as well; wind damage and up to 3" of rain.
On Saturday, this storm front rolled off Lake Superior near Munising, MI.
Tuesday the 3rd have local fireworks display in town this evening. We have my granddaughter all day today. While her Mom & Dad are taking her sister to the Dr. I need to work on the Monte today for tomorrows car show. Which should keep me busy all day. Sometime I need to work in a lawn mowing as well.
Hope you all have a great 4th of July and stay safe when you use fireworks. I quit playing with fireworks because I can't get away from it fast enough any longer.

Good morning guys, happy 4th of July! Another hot and humid one today. We have a heat advisory in place from noon to 8pm. High temps will be in the low 90s with heat indexes of 100.
The Stars and Stripes are flying high over the Mackinac Bridge this morning!

Happy independence day everyone. So I managed to get tires and wheels on today and got to go on my first official drive of the Monte. Still needs a alignment but wasn't pulling or shaking so I opened it up and lifted about 100 mph according to GPS . Got a idea for Dean"s extra contest so pictures will be up soon.

Good morning guys.
Muggy and was already in the 80s before 7 am this morning. Yesterday made it up to 102 and it's going up to 90 today (with a heat index around 100 again). A 'cold' front will be moving through, bringing a chance of thunderstorms today, which means temps will be back down in the upper 70s/low 80s and more comfortable through the weekend.

Nice to hear you got it out. What engine are you running in that thing again?

Some people have a huge fascination with fireworks and I don't get it. I'll watch but I've never really cared much for them or had the need to shoot them off myself to celebrate. Give me a drink, food, bonfire and good company and that's all I need.

More big news for our area. This fall, construction will start on one of the biggest and most anticipated projects in our area - the new 'Gordie Howe' International Bridge between Detroit (USA) and Windsor (Canada). There have been more details and renderings of the new bridge popping up recently. It will be an A-shaped design with 6 lanes of traffic (3 each way) and bike lanes. Ports of entry on both the American and Canadian sides. At 2,800 ft, it will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America.
It has been a long process. The bridge was first proposed in 2004 and was approved by the US Gov't in 2013. Since then, site work, including the process of acquiring and clearing the necessary properties to make way for the bridge and port of entry plazas, has been underway.

It was a long wait for that ride and worth the time I put into this project. As for the engine it's a 409 inch small block with around 450-470 HP @ crankshaft according to my engine builder but will do a wheel dyno someday to find out. Might get to a car show on Friday night and planning on hitting race track on Saturday night. Wife is already complaining about drivers window not working. I tried to explain how difficult the job was to fix and the look I got was priceless..

When I lived in California in the 60's & 70's and then in Iowa they didn't let you have anything but sparklers. In NE we have stands all over the place and folks shoot the stuff off all over town. We used to have a block party on the 4th and the neighbors would bring fireworks and all the Dads would light it up. But now I don't feel real comfortable with it because you need to get out of the way. I am just to slow!!
