Morning all.
Just got home from the hospital, keeping a friend company. He was on his way to work, on a backroad, running 55ish like he does everyday, around an S curve and lost control of his truck.
He hit a tree and was ejected from his vehicle(98 Chevrolet Silverado). He wasn't wearing his seatbelt, but luckily, escaped the scene alive, with only a sore body, a cut knee, and a scraped back.
They're holding him at the local hospital overnight just to keep tabs on him and make sure he's alright.
Oh, also, here's a picture of this truck..
He just spent a few thousand rebuilding the engine/tranny(TH400 tranny). Looked at it a bit on the way home, and from what I could see, without chopping the hood up, was the transmission is still possibly in working condition, and the block may even still be intact, not 100% sure on the block though. Hopefully its just the fan shroud that got crushed.

Glad your friend I'd ok for the most part. I gotta question though, why retrofit a TH400 into that body style when the 4L80E (stronger and still has OD) is made to got in those trucks? I'm skipping the th400 on my 78 and have a 4L80E ready to go in. Maybe I can now stop killing transmissions for a while cause that Vortec has killed two of them.

Good morning everyone. @Johnlh97 Sorry to see that happen to friend but glad to hear he is pretty much fine after a crash like that. I willl be starting work soon and I am pretty tired. So hopefully this day is a quick one.
