that's a nice generator. For some reason my apartment building loses power a lot and it didn't the other night...but before we moved in the building lost power and our neighbors lost all of their food....If they had renter's insurance it would have covered it, but they didn't at the time....Our landlord (Spring Arbor University...we live in married housing, my wife attends here) doesn't hook up generators for the buildings out here...only on main campus....They have huge Detroit Diesel generators for main campus.
We've battled power outages ever since we moved out side the city limits. We even broke down and bought agenerator 10 years ago cause we got tired of the basement flooding during hard rains, the power goes out, and the sump pumps won't run. The generator did pretty good till last fall. Luckily the power came back on within minutes of the generator stopped working.
So now we have a back up generator.

After Hurricane Fran in 1996, nearly all of NC was out of power. My parents and I rode all the way to Norfolk, VA, the nearest place they could find with a generator to get one. I'ts a good thing too... we were out of power for 2 weeks.
