I'm about 30 miles NE of Kansas City, and we've had freezing rain here since last night. KC itself dodged a major bullet this morning, in that the temp rose to 34-degrees fairly early. Otherwise, there probably would have been 100,000 or morewithout electricy, as opposed to the reported 17,000. Even though our linesin my area areunderground, we lost power this morning for about 2-hours. [:@]

I've got some limbs down at my house, but it's nothing compared to the last major ice storm - I think it was 2002. Sure is purdy though - I might post a few pics this afternoon.

We are gettin that storm as I write this post. Luckily, it's all rain at the moment. They are talking about it getting colder tonight, and turning over to snow. Snow OK, ice, you can have it. Hopefully it will go straight to snow and forget the ice part.

Good luck all that got caught in the ice part, I hope you all get your power back soon. We had one storm up here, where the power was off for 56 hours. Thank God for generators.

Here's a pic of some white pines in my front yard. Normally, the lowest branches are about four feet about the ground.

Had to skip work earlier, but I went back to finish a good 4 hour day.

Shoveled probably 400 pounds from the driveway... and shed probably 80 lbs worth off the car alone...

1/2 inch of ice and another 2 inches of sleet made for a fun day... but hey... In like a lion out like a lamb, right? Means january / february / march should be fairly quiet...

We had snow storms but you never hear about them because they occur over 5000 ft.
