I agree with Michael. When ever a GM, Ford, or Chrysler has a problem or a recall, all the media and auto analists/reviewers come out of the woodwork ranting how the Detroit 3 can't get it right. Imports have gotten it right for decades.... blah, blah, blah.
I'm tired of the double standard. I've noticed a long time ago that magazines like Consumer Reports continually trash GM, Ford, and Chrysler. While kissing the feet (figuratively) of every import car that comes along.
I'm sorry the owners of those recalled Toyotas are being inconvenienced. But I'm damn glad the "always perfect" image of the imports has been tarnished for a change.
Every car I've owned (all GM) came from a north american assembly plant. Three from Michigan assembly plants, and the Monte from Ontario.

Here's an article on the said Recall:

My favorite parts:
Toyota’s previously largest U.S. recall was about 900,000 vehicles in 2005 to fix a steering issue. The company declined to say how many complaints it had received about the accelerator issue.
The recall will affect 2007-2010 model year Toyota Camry, 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon, 2004-2009 Toyota Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS250 and IS350.
Take your gas mileage and shove it Prius. I'll take my 31.5 MPG and ability to not kill myself thank you.

Oh if the Toyota recall is about the brake lines...then they have 2 major recalls out right now!!!
The one i've heard about this morning about 6 times now is with the driver side floor mats bunching up and making the gas pedal stuck...it applys to a bunch of Toyotas and Lexus cars...and so far has killed 5 people because of the problem...May seem minor, but it was enough of a problem to create a recall.
I can actually personally see why it was a problem. In my sisters 99 Solora we had to remove the mat a long time ago because it was doing exactly that...it bunched up and would go under the brake pedal/ gas...Why you may ask??? Its obvious when you feel the mat, they are cheap and flimsy, with hardly enough carpet on them to be considered carpeted mats...This is what makes me wonder why everyone thinks Toyota cuts no corners, and produces such quality automobiles (yea, i'll admit, most of their cars are good, but so are GM's!) BUT, all the mats in our AMERICAN cars are much higher quality, and not near as flimsy...not to mention have a little carpet on them. Minor yes, but its the whole point im after!
