I went to a spur of the moment AC/DC concert in Milwaukee last night, the show was epic, got back home around 2:00am, got 3 hours of sleep and am now at work. It was entirely worth it.

Afternoon everyone!

I'm glad I paid for the GMPP extended warranty on my Monte.

Yesterday while driving around the "Security" message comes on the message center in the guage cluster. Twice. Go home and look up in the manual what they mean exactly. I read this info in the manual:

Security Message

This message is displayed to monitor the Passlock
® system.

If the security message is displayed continuously while
driving and stays on, there may be a problem with
the Passlock

® system. Your vehicle will not be protected
by Passlock

® and you should see your dealer for
service. See

Passlock® on page 2-16 for more
information.

Passlock

®

Your vehicle is equipped with the Passlock

®
theft-deterrent system.

Passlock

® is a passive theft-deterrent system. Passlock®
enables fuel if the ignition lock cylinder is turned with
a valid key. If a correct key is not used or the ignition
lock cylinder is tampered with, fuel is disabled and
the engine will not start.

During normal operation, the SECURITY message will
be displayed after the key is turned to the ON ignition
position. See

Security Message on page 3-48.
If the engine stalls and the SECURITY message
flashes, wait until the light stops flashing before trying to
restart the engine.

If the engine is running and the SECURITY message
comes on, you will be able to restart the engine if
you turn the engine off. However, your Passlock

®
system is not working properly and must be serviced by
your dealer. Your vehicle is not protected by Passlock

®
at this time. You may also want to check the fuse.
See

Fuses and Circuit Breakers on page 5-104. See your
dealer for service.

In an emergency, contact Chevrolet Roadside
Assistance. See

Roadside Assistance Program on
page 7-6
for more information.

Fuses and circuit breakers all good. I'm thinking, "SH*T!!! This is gonna cost me!"

Go to dealership this morning. They diagnosed the problem as being the ignition keyswitch as having a bad Passlock sensor. Entire ignition switch assembly has to be replaced.

They tell me my extended warranty covers it. They do the work and I leave happy that I bought the GMPP.

Expensive lesson I learned from not buying the GMPP on my grand am.
