jamie, are you goin to pocono raceway 2 see tony run? i know they just ran a big article on him in the local paper, i guess hes in the lead as of now? ( i dont really follow nascar too well...). they also felt the need to "alert" residents of incresed traffic during race-days, like we arnt used to it, lol.

have fun at the track!!

heres a link to the local papers nascar / pocono raceway sub-homepage:

http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbc...ory=SPORTS0301

& the actuall article about tony:

http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbc.../-1/SPORTS0301

i hope they work, if not copy & paste into your brouser.

the article on the top of the sub- homepage says tony made it onto the pole, whatever that is. ( like i said, im not to versed on nascar, lol)

i even made it to one of the races when i was real little with my dad, we won 2 tickets on the radio.

haha, well thanks, that's awesome!!

pole = starts the race in the 1st position. he only gets it because qualifying was rained out and he is first in points and that's how they set the field when qualifying is rained out.

i'd love to go to a race there some time. it's so huge. my dad's been there and he said from the start/finish line you can barely even see the cars when they enter the first turn.

hi, sorry to break in on the conversation, but pocono is not the greatest place to watch a race, me and a friend went there many years ago. he got free tickets, so when we got closer to the gate he went to get the tickets and hmm, i guess they felll out of his pocket so we put our cash together and came up with enough money to get tickets at the gate (sucked but that was my first race) we took my honda civic which reverse was blown out because of doing some stupid stuff, hmm, maybe smoking something other than cigarettes??? but is was pretty cool, i remember getting fried, BY THE SUN. but besides no sleep and warm beer it was ok!!

I'm going to tend to disagree. In the stands I do not like it as much. But if you get yourself a good spot in the infield, and camp out all weekend and then sit on top of the motorhome and watch the race, it's amazing! We used to hang out in turn 1, and we could see everything but the tunnel turn (turn2).

Couple that with a couple of scanners and binoculars, and it was the best experiences of my life.

ok, i know im a day late, but i have a great pocono raceway story
my dad worked at a place in jersy where every year the boss would invite everyone to the races, bring his RV & sit in the infeild. the one year, one of the employees had had a lil too much to drink, and decided he had to cross the track DURING THE RACE!

luckely he was not hit, security got him & stuck him somewhere where he wouldint get hurt, locked in a room somewhere. they forgot to take his little tool kit he carried everywhere, & he picked the lock & escaped.

he then proceded to the parking lot, where he found a conversion van with the keypad locks, well he managed to figure out the combo, climbed in, and passed out in the far back seat.

when the race was over, the family who owned the van started their drive back to whatever state they came from. about 1/4 of the way there, my dads coworker woke from his lil nap, sat up, and scared the living crap outta the family. did i mention this guy looked like a mix of larry the cable guy and charles manson?

needless to say, he was baned from the track for life, lol.

There are always a lot of drunk people in the infields...

The biggest thing is they get drunk and shout "show us your ****"

They are called the Tit-Brigade... and are usually very successful...
