The only 3.6 that is direct injected is the cadillac version. The malibu version isnt direct injected. Its really a shame that they left the 3.9 crown hanging. Its gonna be pretty hard to find parts in the future, but I bet you it will be easier to find parts for yourengine than it is to find parts for mine!!!

Kweef, Looks like the thread got hi-jacked.
I think it's GREAT that you're switching your curriculum to something you enjoy more. When I graduated way back in '72, I had a full ride at WMU in Kalamazoo in paper science. All math, physics, chemistry and the such. Since I NEVER studied in high school, I HATED college, and didn't last long. A "one semester wonder". I ended up a year later in an apprenticeship program for tool and die moldmaking, where I still got to use LOTS of math, and got to use my hands to be constructive. Point is, if you don't like what you are studying, you PROBABLY won't like it in the real world, either. I hope your decision to change works out good for you. I'd hate to see you not enjoy your career you chose. Easier to change now, than later when you got lots of responsibilities.

The new 3.6L V-6 (LLT) engine delivers outstanding performance ratings. Standard in the 2008 Cadillac STS, the engine is SAE certified and delivers 302 hp (225 kW) at 6300 rpm* and 272 lb.-ft. (369 Nm) of torque at 5200 rpm.*

Wow.

So wonder what the future of the 3.9 is with this impressive 3.6 available?

Maybe............. since I plan on hanging on to a certain '06 LTZ Monte fora while wonder if I should buy a replacement 3.9 "Just In Case" I ever need one?
