BBMike, Thanks for the Birthday wish, even belated it feels good!
My logical mind knows I'll be ok. My emotional brain has this problem every time I travel. Left overs from my childhood! Lol

Barb, I got your Chilly dogs and root beer but they didn't make it to Souix Falls with me. I took a deep breath and they were all gone.
Well after 100 Miles at 35 mph due to Snow and Hail thru the middle of Mini-soda. But we are here in Souix Falls now, and I am absolutely Beet!
Half the trip is Done! Yeah!!!!!
Tomorrow its Crazy House and Mount Rushmore, then to Livingston Montana. I'll take some pics! Lots of pics! But for now it's Night Night All!

Well Hope you stop to enjoy Mt. Rushmore I was there just last summer. Taking the northern route will be Chilly and snowy for sure. Try also in Montana to see the Little Big Horn Battle field, there are also some area's where you can drive 85 on the Interstate. Also in Butte there is the Evel Kenevil Museum.
I also feel your pain growing up, I experienced the same thing you have hinted to only the reverse, in the 60's I lived in California and rarely came home from school without a confrontation. Today I think of it as experience, but that is all in the past and forgotten.
In these parts you can always greet folks with a good morning/ howdy and they always greet you back.
Continued good luck on your trip you have some beautiful country to drive thru.

All the roads are good in S. Dak. The little Big Horn was just outside Billings, where we stayed for her convention. The Park Ranger was so good at telling about Custer that you could envision it in your mind as it unfolded I an every one in the tour were enthralled with it. It's a good one!

New Update
Stopped at Wall Drugs. It's a Tourist Trap about 110 miles east of Rapid City. And At the North East end of the Bad Lands. Then Drove Across the Top of the Bad Lands.it was Ok but you gotta go through the middle of them to see all there Glory. So that was on the way to Mount Rushmore. Then it was back to Rapid City for the night. It was an unscheduled stop but I was too tired to drive another 7 Hrs.
So that was my day. Not a bad day but I am tired. I'll post some pics tomorrow!
