Default Kinda sad

Went to pick an pull an found this poor car just sitting there waiting to get picked apart.

Really not in that bad of shape either. The dash was missing an the driver floor was rotted out but other than that it was solid.

Hell still has the engine in it.

I've seen some cars in the junk yards that look either very clean or in a minimal need of restore (perhaps a little interior and a drive train).

Sometimes I see things that I think had to be worth more to sell to someone as a restore then what the person got from the junk yard.

That Dodge is relatively rare. In 1962 Chrysler got wind of GM and Fords new line of intermediates. Virgil Exner was the top guy at Chrysler at the time and his claim to fame was all the finned styling starting in 57. Anyway he rushed to squash all the plans for Chryslers full size lineup and went to work on downsized full size cars to beat Ford and GM. It turns out that what he thought were the competitors full size cars were infact the new intermediates to be sold along side the full size and new compacts. In 62 Dodge and Plymouths new full size cars were the same size as the competitions mid size. The 62 Plymouth Fury is much smaller than a Chevy Impala or Ford Galaxie of the same year. Plymouth and Dodge would not get a new full size car until 1965. The Imperial and the Chrysler retained a full size car. The Dodge that you see above is a reskinned Chrysler so that Dodge could try to compete. Not many people knew about that full size Dodge so they didn't sell well. Virgil Exner was relieved of his duties for that one. That would be a cool car to own if you could get it.

Wow. That's too bad about that old Dodge. As a car guy, I hate to see a car in that good shape be left for parts and scrap metal. Is the driver's side and rear in just as good shape?

The whole out side looks like that the interior is missing the dash the headliner is shot an the seats are missing with the drivers floor rotted an some of the trunk.
Past that it looked like a good project
If I had the space an cash i'd try to get it.I don't remember if they let you take the whole car or not.
I think the dash would be the hardest to get.
I just couldn't believe some one scraped that car.
