It was real nice yesterday, kinda cooled down some.
Keep in mind the June and July photo contests that are up when you can take a photo that matches the theme during your travels etc.
I will add a link to each in this post.

Good morning guys, it's Flag Day and Michigan's Mackinac Bridge is flying the Stars and Stripes today!

Also, Ford DID buy the old Michigan Central Station in Detroit and this is huge news! The building has sat vacant since 1988 - scrappers have taken most of the valuables inside and it's condition has really declined big time in those 30 years. Ford will unveil their plans on the 19th, so next week Tuesday.

Here's a shot of the Station in 1927.

And what it looks like today. The windows were installed within the past 5 years pretty much to slow the building's deterioration (they are not really period correct windows and no word if they will be reused or removed).

Wow, that is really interesting when they could do a renovation of an old historical facility. I have had to obtain some quotes to redo some old buildings and make them back to near original specs. Plaster is the one of the bigger headaches then you have a Gov. requirement t follow on historical buildings. Fun, fun......... but I hope they can bring it all back.

Good morning guys. It has been HOT, yesterday made it up to 96. It was already 81 degrees at 6:30 this morning, going up into the mid-90s again today.

Yes, this building has went through multiple attempts at renovations as well as demolition plans but all failed to follow through. Tomorrow is the big day when Ford will reveal all details but it has already revealed some images of their plans for the building (exterior image below). Initial estimates are a renovation cost of $100 million (likely higher) and 'roughly' 4 years to complete.

When I had my 03 SS I took a picture there with the Station as a backdrop, that was probably 2006. This is on the south (back) side of the Station with the elevated tracks (8-9 tracks wide) also visible beyond the car.

Also, there was intense flooding in the very Northern part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula yesterday. 4-8" of rain in a short period caused flash flooding and severe damage in Houghton County.

Wow that is some of the worse I have seen. Most likely get some gov assistance on it. I used to inspect this stuff. That is bad for sure.

Good morning guys.

Yesterday made it up to 96, we've had heat indexes in the 100s the past couple days. Ford will be revealing their plans for the Michigan Central Station at 11 am today.

Our Governor has declared a 'state of disaster' for Houghton and Menominee Counties so there should be both State and National assistance, yes. There's a lot of impassable roads. Here's a good video I found showing live shots of just a few affected areas in the Houghton, Michigan area.

I had a great start this morning the radio station gives a special shout out to the guys from a Monte Carlo club heading to a car show in Ohio and some East bound and down starts playing. Hopefully I will get new driveshaft today after work and see if my neighbor will let me use his tires so I can reference what I need and just maybe drive my Monte this weekend if I can find a shop able to balance lug centric wheels. Have a great day
