I said take the plunge. no job is worth a ton of stress whether it's mental, physical or emotional...that's why I quit my job at the clinic where I had to help kill animals every week, it wasn't worth it. & besides you don't know where the economy will be after your contract is up, it could be better to where you could get another job quite easily

The graphics industry is very tough even in a good economy. But since I got laid off in July 08 I have just been taking what I can get because of the stupid health insurance issue - I fall under the pre-existing condition clause and the only insurance I can get is group insurance. I feel that I am so much better than the "quick print shop" jobs I have worked at. But it's been so hard to get my foot in the door of a nice medium sized company.

Where I'm working at now, I can barely live on what I make. I only took the job for the health insurance.

If you are having trouble making ends meet at your current job then its kind of a no brainer to take a better paying job. Even if you do lose the job after a year, its still worth it to make the extra money. You wont be losing out on much by losing your current job. If you were making plenty where you work now, I would say keep your current job, but if you need more money to live comfortably then you know what you have to do.

Very well said Matt! Couldn't agree more.

I say take the plunge as well...and when your approaching 3 months left, start actively looking for another position....but at least you'll have peace of mind for a while with better pay and benefits...Best of luck on whatever you decide, keep us updated!

Yay! A poll!

Seriously tho, I'm with Taz. A print shop job sould cool enough to me, but the context you regard the job in tells me I think you should get out! "Stressful" was the word I picked up on. Sounds like your quality of life is being comprimised.

Hope you find happiness!

I voted but was torn between the two. I dont knkow your circumstances, that being said, a year goes by very quickly. I would however during that year keep on looking instead of waiting till 3 months to go as posted. I went back to college and finished in 06. Still in the same job I tried to escape from. I could have had several jobs but it meant a 50% pay cut. Happiness means alot but financial security can trump it when you have responsibilities. Insurance also is a must have. Do what you really think is right for you. Only you know that. We here on MCF do not.

Believe me I have been looking hard core since I got laid off back in July of 08. This year contract will help me pay down my debt faster (my 05 will be paid off) and save some money just in case I don't find anything after it ends. I will also be able to go on unemployment if the agency can't place me in another position.
