I don't know, but it sounds like a weed eater. He's disgracing the Chevy name by calling it a mini Chevy engine, in my opinion. I've seen an engine in a Moris Minor that was about taht size, only an Inline 4. I've had toy engines that were that size. And it looks like he is starting it with an electric drill.

And the fan belt is loose.

More of a novelty thing I guess.... it says who it is manufactured by in the video... anyone want to make a Chevy powered lawn mower?

Looks like a novelty motor. Made to be a 1/6th scale working model of a Corvette engine. Video says it's made by Moyer.

Here's the website:

http://www.moyermade.com/chevyV8.html

Info from MoyerMade.com:
My current project is a 1/6th scale Chevrolet 327 cu in V8. Based on a 1964 365 hp Corvette motor, measurements have been taken from an actual engine as to be most accurate. The head and block began as billet aluminum that have been painstakingly machined on a Bridgeport-style mill. The 5-main crank has real babbit bearings, while the cam is a scale 30-30 Duntov.

Dies were developed for stamping out the front cover, oil pan and rockers. The pistons and water pump housing are cast aluminum, and the valve covers are going to be investment cast.

Since this engine is a runner, there is spark ignition, a pressurized oil system and a cooling system just like its big brother
Right now the engine has been completed to the point that it will run for brief periods of time. However, several things have yet to be finished including the water pump/radiator, valve covers and carburator to make this a full time running engine.

I actually saw a few of those at the GoodGuys car show last time I was there. They are pretty cool, and they sound pretty cool in person too. Definietly don't sound like a larger V8, but they have a distinct gurggle to them. And they were using drills to start them at the car show.

Definately designed for novelty/show. If they could actually get the thing to run for long periods of time, I think a remote control scale corvette to put it in would be awesome. I doubt anyone could scale a trans for it though.

I was thinking the same thing Matt.

How cool would that be if you could actually have a working 1/6th scale Corvette, complete with mini gasoline powered V8 engine with tranny?
