Default I Want a new bicycle

I am looking for a new bike. Used to ride daily but they started breaking on me because I am 330 lbs. I went to the local Trek store and they told me there is a 300lbs weight limit on thier frames and I would need to buy $440 set of rims to hold my wieght. Looking for a Dual Sport mountain/Road Bike. The Trek I was looking at was the DS 8.3, Solid Front Fork Swap, and Mountain Triple strength Rims Which would run $1300 with a 5 year Warrantee. Anyone know a good Trek alternative in the $800-$1000 price range?

PS. I Tacoed the front rim on my old Murry Just from the force of me pedaling, and destroyed a $500 mongoose after only 1.5 miles (Rims became untrue from my wieght and threw a brake into the spokes at 30mph, not fun for me). I need a super strong big man bike.

My buddy is a big man as well. A 300+ pound body builder and he bought a redline bike with heavy duty rims. It was pretty expensive tho. Have you thought about recumbent bikes. I think they are better for big guys. Zach (shocker) just bought one and I'm sure when he see this he'll comment.

I can't help on a bike recommendatio, sorry.

I rode every day for years. I could do 12 miles in an hour. in 10th gear.

I bought a beautiful 12 speed for a former girlfriend. she kept it when she dumped me.

A cousin of mine was twice your size. But he rarely if at all did any exercise.

Yea I used to be a Body Builder/ Football Player in college. Used to Ride 20 miles a day when i played linebacker at 220. Coach wanted me at 300+ so I Lifted hard gained weight and broke alot of bikes. Now Football is over I dont need this extra weight and cycling sounds like it would be fun again.
