can someone suggest some rim sizes for my 1981 monte carlo. preferebly 15 or 16 but idk about width. i know my front ones are very skinny and the back ones are wide, lol and thats how i want it. also, anyone know some good looking knock off cragars or torque thrusts? thanks

 

If you like the wider in the back look you can go 15 x 6 up front & 15 x 8 or 10 in the back. I know Carlisle in CA makes the Cragar SS in those sizes but not positive on the American Racing one. If you end up getting one of these two styles I would get the Torque Thrust because it is an all aluminum wheel & the SS is a composite so the barrels will rust.

I just looked at the website & here are the ones for your Monte.

In front

309-5561 if you want to go 15 x 5 (the smallest they make)
309-5761 for a 15 x 7

In the back

309-58561 for a 15 x 8.5

These will fit perfect (no spacers or any thing) & look real nice.

On the older cars that is kinda tough, but not imposible to figure out due to shock condition (sagging) and such. The easiest way to figure it out would be to use the below website & put your current tire size in the left spot & the tire you want in the right spot, check how much room you have under the car (outside & inside) & compare it to the specs the site gives you. You can do the II but there's not much difference. You can get a 10 wide for the back but no 5 up front. The Monte doesn't need any special back side so the II would IMO just prolong the process of getting them because of the build time.
