Kerry you may have gotten one of the few good ones. Most of them got noisy in the top end at about 45,000 miles, started smoking at about 60,000, and blew up around 100,000 miles. Saw hundreds of them come into the junk yards with the same story. Chrysler did a lot of valve jobs on them with the 70,000 mile warrantee that they offered. It accounts for why there are so few 80's and 90's front wheel drive cars around now. That V-6 engine made good power when new and hauled around a minivan, Dodge Spirit-Dynasty-Daytona better than the 2.5 inline four. Unless the four was turbo charged it was quite anemic.

Gregg, mine has 105,000 miles on it and led a pampered life. The original owner was 57 when she bought it brand new back in 1990. Original bill of sale was in the glovebox. I found her on Facebook.:p I am the fourth owner. She gave the car to her grandson as a high school graduation gift. Later he received a brand new car as a college graduation present. I traded a '97 Ram 1500 4x4 to the guy who bought it from the grandson (and the third owner only had it a few months). I'll likely keep it forever.
I also have a '92 with the 2.5 non turbo, 3 speed automatic and yeah it's no powerhouse in the acceleration department but cruises nicely down the highway. The V6 actually gets better gas mileage, though.
Sorry about the !!!!!!!

Many of those had the 2.6L engine. The good thing about this engine is that it had a timing chain instead of a rubber belt. It was probably one of mitsubishis better engines but I didn't say it was good either.

No problem with the hijacking of the thread lol not a big deal. I don't know the purpose evn his friedn falt out said 600hp in an automatic is just pointless. I don't know whats gotten into him I think he has seen too many racing movies. He bought a 96 Crown Vic Police interceptor and raced that too death, then he had an older GTP with the 3400 (was a beautiful car it was that orange color) and he blew that up, and of course he had a 2 door lumina that he blew up also. I think he has a problem. His friend that calls rams junk was a total jerk. I told him my last one had an upgraded oil cooler, shift kit, professionally built brand new trans and ran with synthetic trans fluid yet he still told me itd last only 20k and that it was junk.

They're at the age where you can't tell them anything. Because they think they know everything, and everyone else is just a stupid hater and a loser. Hopefully they grow out of it before someone gets killed.
