Sorry to hear about the bad news! I hope your items find their way back to you and your wife. Could have been far worse.

Yeah... go online with the psp once and it can be traced to his house if you call sony with the serial number.

Also, check craigslist... people dumb enough to steal are also dumb enough to get caught

Augi had the million dollar idea!!!!

Police detectives are now investigating this add:
Date Listed 24-Mar-11
Last Edited 24-Mar-11
Price $200.00
Address 550 Second St, London, ON N5V 1X7, Canada
View map

I HAVE A PS3 WITH 2 CONTROLLERS AND A HDMI CORD FOR CONNECTION ASKING 250
(I original posted a link to a kijiji add here, but I didn't want to increase the add traffic too much and raise suspicion during investigation)

That has to be it! The add has only been up for a few hours, but he's already dropped the price $50. He is very vague, but mentions an HDMI cable. The one thing my thief took his time with was getting the HDML cable. I had it routing though the wall and he had to take a lot apart to get it. Was important enough to take his time - and important enough to include in the add.
I talked it over with police, but they couldn't really advise me to pursue the matter myself - not safe. If nothing gets done I might anyways. I do have the serial number and gave it to them.

Can anyone give me an example of the serial number on the back of their PS3? I have the box to mine still and there's a few numbers on there. I don't know which one the police should be looking for...

If you don't act fast, someone is going to buy your PS3 though.

Thanks guys! That confirms how it would be written on the machine. But if it is that easy to lose the sticker, it'll be hard to bust him. I don't know how easy these things are to format. I didn't have it locked, but lots of things are configured. After I hear from the police again I'l consider what to do. Obviously if I'm going to buy it, I'll need to see it fired up.

I can't even get over there to go play with it now. No wheels and I got a hassling baby. No doubt we need to act fast...

Some good reading there Chibi.

Great update here! A plain clothes detective has contacted the seller and offered him $185 (I thought that was smart). He has made arrangements to meet up with him in a hour! This is really gonna go down!!!

Hope the thief is not a member of these boards or I just blew the detectives cover!

My question is How can you prove it is yours if indeed it is? Hopefully he hasn't wiped it out. As stupid criminal might have left your serial number on it. LOL what an AZZ. Any defining marks or scratches? Keep us posted. Interesting.
