I don't know. Except for a few years during the gas crisis of the mid to late 70's, cars like the Mustang and the Corvette qualified as muscle cars. Even in the 80's and 90's.

Even if the factory turned the power down a little. People still turned the power back up themselves to make them live up to their name.

Look Taz! I'm not looking for an arguement. But this summer when I get into the Detroit area. We can continue this conversation one on one. ha ha ha. They we not Muscle cars after 1970. The End. No matter if they thought they were fast or not. Or if they made them fast. Faster cars are at the dragstrips. And their not Muscle cars. Now do I make myself clear. ha ha ha ha. Just giving you a hard time. So don't get all mad now. I love messin with people. Ok gotta run more later. ha ha ha Have a nice warm day. I 'am

1969 corvette 350/350 hp 4 speed manual steering/manual disc brakes ,Cost two sisters they got mad because Dad gave me vette free $$ .

1940 chevy 350/300 Hp ,350 turbo trans. Nova sub frame.bought in 1985 for $400 dollars,Still drive to cars shows, rod runs..

I've heard a lot of people say that street rods and Corvettes are not muscle cars either. A lot of people will tell you that Camaros and Mustangs are not muscle cars and that they're "pony cars" instead. The definition of "muscle car" is not 100% defined.
No offense intended toward anyone, of course. Its a cool thread.

I know what you mean. The "muscle car era". Chevelle, GTO, Challenger, Charger, AMX (posted just for JJ ), the list goes on and on. There's no doubt the "muscle car era" died with the 70's gas shortage.

I'm not looking to argue over anyone's definition of anything. That's not the point of this thread anyway. I love the classic muscle cars from before the gas crisis killed the performance divisions of the big three. No matter what company made them. I'm a car guy. Let's see those muscle cars!

When I get in to the Detroit area. Sometime this summer. We got to meet for lunch , a drink, Or even at Mc Donald's. Just to say hi and have a few laughs. Besides that... WHERE"S My Monte ????
