Hm...I don't like the idea of giving friends big jobs..... thats how government spending got so out of control as it is 'Space. I'm all for firing our current transportation manager and replacing him with RJ though, but don't create positions for your friends (not even me). I like most of 'Space's ideas. I've always thought that locking somebody in a cell with nothing to do for so long just gives them time to figure out how to get away with it next time. We need rehabiliation. It costs, I think, $100,000a year to keep a prisoner behind bars. If we'll just spend a bit more money on rehabilitation, helping that person get job skills, and actualy disciplining are prisoners, then they can become contributing members to society. This is especialy the case for non-violent drug offenders. Most are even contributing to society, but they just want a little marijuana apparently. We take away that income tax source, and we put them in prison, where they beging to ride our tax system. Here, they will often hook up with the "big time" criminals, the ones who deserve to be in jail, and become dirty crook instead of just a simple drug user. We need to completly revamp our prison system.

 

Looks to me Space did save quite a bit of money by re-vamping Welfare into Workfare. So he can give his friends high paying jobs now.

What's wrong with putting these people to work? I see nothing wrong with letting them do jobs like highway beautificationsuch asplanting trees, or flowers for the money they receive. Even trash pickup is better then just handing them $$$$ month after month and getting zero in return.
