Well it's been a couple of days since I got on now. Tonight we are in Nashville. Yesterday we checked out Graceland in it's Christmas attire. We made it on the road all the way to Nashville and we are going to do a couple more things here. I'm looking forward to catching up on the posting sometime this weekend!!
Tonight we are going to try to make it to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC and check that out Friday morning. After that, we are going to head home.

LadyT says that you have NO kahonies if youre that close to the Tail of the Dragon and dont drive it! You go south and west around the Smokies, thru Cherokee, and around to Townsend. The Dragon technically starts at Deals Gap, at the state line, but the Hellbender 128 runs past Fontana village and dam, where we stayed a week. TRUST US! This is the #1 rated sport bike and sport car road in the NATION. Just BE CAREFUL!
Stop at the Pit Stop for a map, at Fontana Village. GREAT driving. Watch your GPS go nuts! This is where this pic was taken:

Just got back from the same trip. It was a little warmer then it is now. Fun time for sure. I make it up every year...

My brother and his family are traveling with us... his children are in their car seats in their van and we are convoying out here and back.
The Honda Odyysey is getting about 24 mpgs highway. It's gotten as low as 23, but the mountains really hurt it you know...
My brothers van is an 04 Ford Freestar... he's getting 21-22 mpgs with it.... he likes to one up us when we give the horsepower and mpg ratings of hte van.. he claimed he got 28 gonig to the beach but I don't believe him. He's die-hard Ford, and just wants his van to seem better than the Honda. I checked his mileage for him while we were filling up and got the truth
The fueleconomy.gov site says his van shoudl get 22 and ours 23 i believe... so he's doing average and we're doing better (BTW, i'm driving!!). What I do is whne we come down a long mountain, I put the car in neutral... I've gone 3-5 miles at 800 rpms a few times while we've been out here!!!
We're having fun. Tongiht we're in Newport, TN. Biltmore and home are on the itinerary tomorrow. They are calling for an inch of snow in this area tomorrow, so O BOY!!!!

I've been meaning to get to asheville for years. It's somewhat of a mecca for fly-fishing.
I had friends that lived there for a bit. Let us know how it is. I hear it's beautiful there. Probably more so in the fall when the leaves change, but I bet it's still nice right now.
