Hate Mustang Owners. No Seriously I Really Do..

Thank you Duane. I wish I had the talent to do that myself. Space was kind enough to take his time and do it for me. I didn't even ask him to do it which makes it even more special to me.

JW; I will be kind and indulge you with some product knowledge. The fox body platform was built from 1978 to 1995. The Fox platform was first used on the 1978 Ford Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr. Both of these cars were built until 1983. The replacement for the Fairmont was the mid size LTD and the Zephyr was replaced by the midsize Mercury Marquis. In 1979 Ford expanded the fox platform to include the Mustang and would continue until 1995. The Mercury Capri also joined the Mustang as a fox body as well. I don't recall what was the first and last years for the Fox Capri but do know it didn't last as long as the Mustang. I almost forgot about the Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar. They were both built on the Fox platform beginning in 1980 and lasting until 1987 or 1988.
Motor choices in the Fox bodies included the following engines. The smallest was the 2.3 litre inline four cylinder. It was also known as the 2300. It was available with a carburetor, fuel injected, and turbo charged. It could be had with a five speed manual or an automatic. The next available engine was either a 200 or 250 CID inline six with either a five speed manual or automatic. The next engine was a 3.8 Litre V-6. This incidentally was the most popular engine in the Fox platform. I don't recall ever seeing a standard transmission behind the V-6. The next engine available was the 5.0 with both manual and automatic transmissions. The last engine choice was the 5.8 litre 351. This engine was not very popular and was a special order only. I had only seen it once in a 83 Ford LTD police interceptor. The V-6 and V-8 came with a carb or fuel injection depending upon the year.
I worked in a Ford dealership in the early and mid eighties. I also owned a 79 Mercury Zephyr 4 door sedan that had the 2300 under the hood and a 5 speed. I also owned an 82 Ford Fairmont wagon with an inline six. There were some really cool oddities built on the Fox platform.

A girl I knew in high school had around an '83 or '84 Mustang LX with the 3.8 V6 in it. The early ones also had some kind of oddball 255 c.i. V8, also (another friend of mine in high school had it). Wiki (I know, I know, not always 100% correct) has the complete engine list for '79-'93 Fox body Mustangs.

Yeah, a buddy of mine had an '86 LX with the 3.8 also, so they definitely do come with 6 cylinder engines.. Don't leave out the 4 cylinder Mustangs.. 2.3L Turbo namely.

Can't forget the 84-86 Mustang SVO that had the turbo and one of my favorites is the 83-87 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. They were awesome cars. Ford was playing with the bore of the 302 in the early eighties and the engine size did change for a few years. It was difficult trying to remember them all.
