I've been there, I was on Operation Enduring Freedom orders for a full year and I'm proud. My dad's been there 3 times, recently retired, and is going back for a year as a contractor. I don't care what the public and media thinks, they are fools if they think we should of done nothing. IMO you should have to have military service to be able to vote. Most of the public is clueless when it comes to foreign affairs and only know what is in the media, but its hard to blame them for being so sheltered.
/end rant

Thanks dustybird! I may have been a bit harsh but it is extremely frustrating to see backlash from the public when so many americans are risking their lives and dieing for this country.

People say they support the troops but do not support the war. That is nonsense, these troops go there believing in the war and what needs to be done, it's the only way to make it through it. I can't speak for all the soldiers in the military, but it is a very prideful and emotional subject for those that have been there and know what it is like to be deployed. It takes alot to leave with thoughts of maybe never seeing your family again for the hope of the greater good.

I certainly do appreciate service to our country from all of you. I supported the Iraq for a while, but I only oppose becasue I believe in a non-interventionist foreign policy. This also means I believe we should leave Germany, Korea, Japan, and wherever the hell else we are.

I believe Saddam had WMD. I know beyond any shadow of a doubt he had them. He had everything needed to make them when we invaded. He kicked all of the weapon inspectors out a couple years earlier, and had been restricting what he would allow them to see for a long time. The UN threatened military action for a long time before the US finally did the invasion for them. So where did the weapons go? I do'nt know. Iran, Syria, or Lebanon amongst others would have been happy to take them off Saddams hands for him. What was he hiding from the UN?

The reason I went against it was because of its cost to the Americans.... human lives that can't be replaced, and something like $2 billion we are borrowing from China everyday for this war. The money for benefits for these troops that have served and are serving, the cost in dollars, the interest on the money we are borrowing... the conservative estimate is $3 trillion... thats the estimate 'Space posted. It could cost us as much as 6-8 trillion. I think hanging Saddam was a great thing, I really do. But look at the cost.... it's outrageous. The media reports the side it likes.. the Liberals side. This has caused the rest of the world to hate America's guts right now. Thats an even bigger cost, an image that will take years to heal.

But thats where I stand... for what it's worth. I know the age card is about to be played. It was played when I used the other side too... o'well

Im proud to say I support the troops AND their mission! I do not like the fact that we have been there so long, and dont like how so many fellow americans have died. AND I SURE AS HELL HATE THE LIBERAL-HIPPIES IN THIS COUNTRY THAT BASH US TO THE BITTER END. As far as im concerned, we won the war, that was the easy part. Its this **** we have our guys doin now, there like sittin ducks in their crappy humvees on patrol and such. Its sad that this country's leadership LACK THE FORTITUDE TO FIGHT THE FIGHT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE FOUGHT! Im talkin about exterminating every RELIGIOUS Leader and followersthatform thosemilitias, and plant all the bombs. Thats like notwanting to take out Hitler and his best generals.Im talikin about leveling Falujah into the stone age, rather than sending so many marines to their deaths in room to room fighting. Why cant we fight a war the way a war is supposed to be fought so we can get up and leave already. We should follow the "peace through superior firepower" method, ie Gulf War 1.
By the way, this country is not really at war, its the soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines that are at war and their families. I look around every day, and see a country that is completely oblivious to the terror on the other side of the globe. Unfortunately, i think its gunna take another large attack in this country for PEOPLE TO WAKE UP! ISLAMOFACSISM IS OUR GREATEST THREAT!

Reason not to believe polls: 70% of Americans do not support the War in Iraq

Seems alot of people here disagree with the war because it's not being fought hard enough... but the poll is being interpreted to mean that 70% of Americans want us out.

A. They want "US" to fight fair.
B. They want to use whatever means of force they have at their finger tips.
C. They want us to fight fair.

I agree it was not handled correctly... It was supposed to be handled in the manner of the Gulf War when Bush called it "Shock and Awe", remember that?
