Well here in Windsor, Ontario pot holes have been a huge problem for decades. For over 2 decades our city officials decided to simply patch up our streets rather than re-pave them. We have many streets that are now just a series of patches with no smooth pavement. It's only been in the past 5 years that major streets have been torn up and re-done. But they're so far behind, at this point it'll be next to impossible to catch up on 20+ years of neglect.

I also know that the city of Detroit is in the same situation. Only it's not just 20+ years, it's more like double that.

Space... your pics of those sink holes are scarey stuff. Kind of a reminder that the cities of Detroit and Windsor are built above a working salt mine that has been in operation for generations. Luckily, the only sink hole we've had so far was on the front lawn of a local tv station in the 80`s. Hopefully we don't get any sink holes like the ones you posted. Scarey stuff space dood.

 

Around here, we spell pot hole: D-A-Y-T-O-N.

I actually bought aftermarket 18 inch wheels for my previous car and cracked one and bent another hitting a pothole last fall/winter. I was crazy pissed off. They are still sitting in my garage because I do not know what to do with them.

 

I thought if your car is damaged from a pot hole you can file a report with the city and they will pay for the repairs because thats what my brother did about three years ago when that hppened to him.

 

I thought about, but the city that I was in does not exactly standoutwell in the public eye. It is a dump. Easy Chicago, IN. It is basically Gary, but not, if that makes sense. I did not want to deal with the city.

 

Well i'm debating... its costing me 50$ for the mount, and i actually bought the spring compressor.. it was on sale for 35$... im sure it wont be the last time i need to use it, so why pay 10$ everytime to rent it...

 

At one time damaging your car in a pot hole was your problem. No city would stand behind repairing your car.

But it's pretty much changed over the years.

 

Well 3.5 hours later, in an underground parking garage...didnt feel like bringing her to my works shop...got her done, shes back on the road (god i love the electric impact gun i got for xmas! first time i got to use it)

 

Well, if you tried that in Windsor, city council would tie it up in legal for about 10 years.

The city of Detroit would just laugh at you. Because everyone around here knows the cityof Detroit is broke. Thanks in part to their former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
