Electric cars for 2012
Heres a list of electric cars availible for purchase in 2012. I honestly think electric cars are going to evolve into our main source of alternative fuel over fossil fuels. Oh and i'll take a Tesla S please

I dont want an electric car but I may drive a hybrid like the Volt. Our city has already put in some charging stations downtown. Before It replaces gas powered vehicles they will have to get the mileage up on them. What are you gonna do if your going on a 300 mile trip. Also I am curious do you start to lose power when the batteries die or does it just stop instantly

'On the road, the Model S rewires what you expect when your foot touches the pedals. Unlike gas engines, electric cars generate their maximum power at start -- and no electric car has ever had as much power as the Model S, whose Performance edition is good for 417 hp. The zero-to-60 mph run ticks by in an impressive 4.4 seconds (5.9 seconds for the 362 hp edition), and the thrust from the instant you mash the accelerator pushes back like Alec Baldwin at a paparazzi convention.'

Electric Cars are awesome for just going to the store or somewhere within 40-60 miles round trip but I couldn't see them for going on a long trip. Some of those look like a deathtrap more than anything. Yes I would like be the size of an insect on the highway. NOT!

If i were to buy an electric car it would have to have some kind of generator or a very high range like the Tesla. I honestly would not mind having a chevy volt. 40 mile range is enough to where i could run errands or commute to work and never use any gas. And over time thats gonna add up. Beyond local running electric cars at this point are useless. They're good for running local or shorter trips. But i dont expect the idea of the electric car to fade any time soon. They're only getting more and more prominent. Think back to when the prius first become mainstream in 2003 and look how far electric cars have gone since then. Now almost every major auto maker has atleast one electric/hybrid car in production or atleast had a concept.
