I would definitely welcome a turbo diesel Cruze over a Prius for a daily driver. Maybe you can convince the powers that be?

To be quite honest....
Im not big on deisels....especially the price of deisel fuel!
after haven drove truck (Semi) for a little over 25 yrs.. Deisel fumes stink up the joint...lol

But, I will say I liked the 2012 cruze we had as a replacement for about a week.. It had good drive ability as well as fuel mileage...(It also fit easily into my 1 car garage...

)

It was roomy yet stylish... Im just not a huge fan of a 4 door vehicle...

But, if it was economically, and financially affordable...
I just might buy 1.

I know a few people that have a cruze an love it.I wouldn't mind a diesel powered one at all.
One of the things I heard from the guys over at the chevy store is that they're really under rating the diesel cruze in power an mpg.How true that is I don't know but one tech the HP is closer to 165-170 than the 148 that i've seen.But I haven't really looked in to it much so he could have been blowing smoke.
