As for the "GMC wagon" mistake, most tv producers/writers are not your typical car people. Most of themwouldn't knowa fastback from a wagon. I guess they figure your average viewer won't notice or care.

Now the switching of cars is a different story. Knowing how Hollywood loves to destroy cars, I'm betting the owner of the '75-'76 car had a "no damage"legal agreement drawn up. The 77-79 model was probably the closest they could find. With good edittingand the right camera angles, most people wouldn't noticea switch.

A lot of the original General Lee's used in the movie had "no damage" agreements like that. The movie company had to scavenge junk yards all over north america looking for junked '67-'69 Chargers that they could paint up to look authentic just to wreck 'em.

67-68 were a different body style of chargers, i thionk you mean 68-70 chargers are what they went all over North America looking for.

The "VANDURA" conversion was GMC's only answer for its station wagon void.
