So, if I bought a Honda/Hyundai/Toyota built/assembled by an American worker, one American soil, within the Continental United States, you would feel this would be buying American, right?
I only ask because going to my earlier statement, some people would still feel that's NOT supporting Americans (when infact, those vendors gave Americans jobs).
Don't get me wrong, I'd like more companies (like the big 3) to keep the products built in the U.S.A., but right now, in today's world, I can only hope for as many jobs as they send over seas, the Import companies are making up for by bring jobs to our shores (then, you have created a trade and a balance, as then the available jobs are still the same).
I agree with that statement, but these days, so many people say it and don't understand what it means any more. They still feel buying from the big 3 is buying American and now a days, it may and it may not.

My Monte was built in "North" America at least..
Our other two cars were actually built here with one being an "import"-
The "import"- a 2009 Toyota Avalon- was built in Kentucky,
and the other "domestic"- a 2011 Buick Lucerne- was built in Detroit, MI.
The thing about the Buick though, is that it uses one of Toyota's part suppliers- Denso- for the alternator, cooling fans, power steering pump, etc.
The Buick or the Monte are unlikely to have recalls with the gas pedal, though..
Also "The_Maniac", Chrysler was indeed bailed out in the early 80s-
without it, we wouldn't have talking "K-Cars" like this one-

Turn it up, you'll hear Khan better..

If you buy a car look at first number/letter in the vin. 1 is America, 2 is canada, 3 is mexico, anything else is way overseas. I buy cars with a 1 or 2 but nothing else. If I had money I would buy german because they make sweet cars. My deffinition of an American car is one built in the US so even if it is a honda accord I will buy it because the first number in the vin is 1.
My parents have a Honda Odyssey, assembled in Lincoln, AL.
I think Denso alternators have been the remanufactured brand on GM since the early 90s. I've changed a bunch of them too, sorriest alternator ever built. They're almost as sorry as the York compressor Ford used from about 1960-1990. Good thing they come with a lifetime warranty, we've practically bankrupted Auto Zone over those darn things.

BUT when I've had an issue and escalate to AutoZone corporate (via e-mail on their web site) Corporate has ALWAYS corrected the matter.
As an FYI - For the last couple of years, I avoid AutoZone (unless I can walk in get the part off the shelves myself). I have an AutoZone about 1-2 minutes from me and I prefer going to the other 2 shops 10-15 minutes away FIRST (better service, high chances of having what I need).
OH and if I'm not in a hurry for the part, I tend to favor RockAuto.com! Much broader selection, better prices most of the time.

Some great Master-Debating by member's on this topic/issue.

I've Enjoyed reading the `points & counter `points. I keep learning so much on the MCF 4-Sure
Thanks CowBoy `Duane for creating a good topic & great activity on the MCF...Thanks member's for your posts & adding your opinions/facts and sharing your knowledge.
I'm surprised AutoZone has not gone under becaus the 3 stores in my county SUCK, service suck, lack of parts suck, quality of parts suck. Sensing a theme lol!

Tehre have been periods of time when the Auto Zone here had a few helpful people who knew their stuff and I would go there. I could name some names, but I won't.
Auto Zone has a policy that when something goes wrong in the store and they can't pin point who it was, instead of investigating or keeping a better eye on things, Auto Zone will lay off the entire store and then re-hire people back. This keeps people from building up seniority and when they re-hire, they can get rid of slackers and hire pepole who are generally even more slack than the old group.
Every time things got going well at Auto Zone and they got to where I was halfway trusty of them, they pulled that $hit. Last time, the guy who I talked to all the time told me that $188 went missing from the register so they were just going to fire everyone on Monday (this was like a Wednesday). The next time I went in, they made me wait in line behind someone getting a starter, someone wanting an alternator checked, and some guy getting a radiator just so I could turn in a set of light bulbs I bought that were the wrong size. I swore off Auto Zone from that day and I bet Auto Zone hasn't profitted $10 on me this year.
Sad thing for me is our local CarQuest got to where it also sucked, and it finally closed. I go to NAPA or I go to the next town to go to Advanced Auto Parts or my new personal favorite parts store, O'Reilly.... Auto zone won't make any money off of me any time soon.
