In Australia, Holden is king. Its rear-drive sedan and coupe designs have been so influential, they’ve spawned variants across the globe from Vauxhall in Europe to Pontiac and Chevrolet here in the U.S. In fact, a shortened, two-door version of the Commodore – the Monaro – underpinned the last-gen Pontiac GTO here in the States.
Although the new Commodore - sent Stateside as the Chevrolet SS - has lived on, Holden has subsequently axed the aforementioned Monaro. Delightfully, an Australian design firm called Dsine International - along with some designers from Holden - is keeping the Monaro spirit alive with the digital rendering you see above.
The new-gen Monaro was an after-hours project taken on by the team at Dsine and a few Holden designers Peter Hughes and Simon Gow, according to a Drive report. It’s so serious about the car, though, Dsine has said it’d go further with the design if not for a lack of funding.
Should it ever find its way to production, though, the Monaro could make for a tremendous new-gen Monte Carlo here in the States along side its big brother, the Chevy SS. Aside from the obvious obstacles in its path to production, the Monaro has another wildly styled barrier in its path to America: the Camaro.
The Monaro and the Camaro are essentially mechanical twins underneath the bodywork. As much as old GM liked to sell four versions of the same car, new GM isn’t so keen on the idea. Holden seems to love this Monaro rendering, though. Should anything develop from it, we’ll be sure to let you know.

That's a nice car but it doesn't have the Monte Carlo Look. And where is the Trunk? Into of the best things about the Monte Carlo is that you can fit 4 folded bodies and your groceries in the trunk!

LOL `J.C. > LOL
For Sale: Used Monte Carlo. Only used for daily transportation of family & friends. Lots of Room, (can fit 5 people in the Cabin & 5 in the Trunk) Total: 10 people

Call anytime > we have a `Go phone in the Car...
Save $'s on taking the bus. * We can drive to your place for a test ride...Call 911-411911 Thanks for viewing our ad...

p.s. > Kid's ate all the groceries >
One word GROSS !! Not like a Monte at all - If Chevy brings back the Monte I would hope that it would at least keep some of the original lines to it.

Why do the Aussie's always get cooler versions of cars than we do? That Holden in the first post looks cool. That car technically already exists here with the Chevrolet SS; does not look like a Monte Carlo.
I do like the Jeff Gordon Edition SS. This car was at SEMA this year; hopefully something similar for real production. Its lower grille looks much better with full open mesh without that stupid bar across it.

First one is so so, that 2nd one with the impala front is ok. But I dont see them happening. Too much of a competitor for the camaro and corvette.
